I had gastric bypass in Jan. 2005 weighing 328lbs. if it taught me anything it was to eat and live the low carb lifestyle to lose it and maintain.

In the past 6 years my weight has been on a roller coaster ride. With 3 pregnancies I delivered my last baby weighing 260 lbs. Convinced that I was doomed, i called my weight loss surgeon who said that he would NOT do a revision and that I needed to kick my butt back into gear, which I did.

Last December I had a hernia repair and they removed over 15 pounds of abdominal excess. Yuck! I even have pictures from the O.R.
That was they key to fitting my booty into a tiny pair of jeans, that are getting dusty as we speak. I am determined to dust them off and wear before winters end!

I have never met my goal of 140ish but I know that I will and I can't wait to taste "oh how sweet" that will be!
I feel revitalized after just finding this site this morning. I can't wait to try some of the recipies!!
Hey Tammy! Welcome-it is a great site!
Sounds like you've come such a long way already....I'll bet you can hit goal!

Interesting in that we are exactly the same height and weight.
However, I am certain that our body shapes are different because...
I'm NOT a runner, AND I'm older...plus you wear Levi's jeans.

My body shape is more pear than apple,
but actually is far more hourglass than pear...
...and hourglass with a bit of extra sand in the bottom.

The reverse is true for me,
I would be more likely to go DOWN a size in dresses.
I'm not sure what size I would wear at Talbots,
because it isn't somewhere I normally shop.
The one time I shopped there I was looking for a dress of a certain style,
and their smallest size was a bit too large..I don't remember what size..
so I've never purchased anything there.

I personally have not been able to find any style of Levi's jeans
that will provide a good fit for my body.
They always had too big a gap at in my waist
or were too small for my behind or thighs.
In a previous post, on one of the other pages of this Thread
I listed the brands of jeans I've found that DO fit me.

I'm 4'11", weigh 150. I'm not sure what I am in womens, 12 or 14. I wear a 36/32 mens pant. I can't find them shorter than that.
I'm 2 lbs away from no longer being classified as "obese".

Wow this is s great thread! I actually read the whole thing from the first post and I am just sitting here in semi- amazement at what "normal" weight/size will sound like. It has been soooo long ago since i was anywhere near my goal weight that i guess i hadn't really absorbed what size I will be. At my lowest adult weight (around 23 or 24 years old) I was 132#s and a size 10. I am 5'6" tall....i remember crossing over into the 200's and wearing a 14 for a long time...

I think i counted maybe 3 people in this whole thread that weighed over 300 post (and 3 men! lol), so I thought I'd try to "beef up" the representation...I am 326#s and wear 26/28. I wore a 34 at my heaviest and still have a leather jacket in a 30W that i wear that is kinda big, but i wear a sweater or jacket under it and just deal. It really is a joy to have the "it's too big for me" problem! Lol! I have not worn jeans in a couple of years and have several in size 24 that i am hoping to comfortably be in when i get another 25-30#s off. I bought a pair of JMS Classic jeans from Walmart's last week in a 26W that fit (zipped closed and everything!lol) but i won't say they fit comfortably. So i am just hanging in here- stickin and stayin - and now trying to wrap my head around me really getting down to a size 10? or 8? Wow. You guys are such an inspiration. I think i can do this! Next goal for me: Size 24 in January!

I am 5'7" At my heaviest I was maybe 185 and was generally in size 16s and they were snug! I carry weight all over...I wasn't top or bottom heavy, just heavy. I lost 50 lbs getting down to some 6s and some 8s.... I then upped my cardio and strength training s and started doing Bikram yoga 3 times/week. I think my weight has gone up about 10 pounds (muscle) but I'm smaller/more compact now than I was when I was at 135. Pretty much in size 6s or smalls. I don't buy designer clothing (I'm cheap!). I read in one of these strings the statement that designers sizes run bigger...I've actually mostly found the opposite...but maybe it depends on which designer you're talking about!

Just goes to show you that bodies are different...and clothing sizes are inconsistent place to place...

I a 5'6.5 tall, weigh 287 and wear pant size 26/28 and shirt size 3x. The pants do fit snugly though  I carry most of my weight right in the middle - from my belly button, down to my thighs. I have very wide hips.

Before I gained all of this weight, I was 160 pounds and a size 14 bottom, medium tops. Oh what I would give to be there again.

I just wanted to add that you have a great attitude, and be proud of your size drop. It takes so much more effort to go from a 26 to a 24 than it does to go from a 16 to a 14. It's harder also because no one even notices you are losing weight for awhile (my husband didn't notice till I'd lost over 30 pounds). KUTGW

I also chose not to wear jeans for years...just couldn't find any that looked good on a plus sized body. You would think there would be someone that was shaped like me!

Yeah it seemed to take forever for me to go from a 24 to a 20 then to an 18, now 16s are fitting loose and I can fit size 14. But there's a lot more weightloss between and 24 and 20, once your size gets to the teens, it goes a bit faster to move down sizes.

I started at 525 lbs and I was buying a size 56 womans if I could find it and ordering a men's 7, 8 and 9x from King Size when I could find them. I had a 90" belly. So don't give up, you can do this!

Don't feel like you have to set a goal size now, you could just pick a starting point and see how you feel when you get there. That's what I did. I said I wanted to fit into an 18 again, which I can now but it also depends on the brand and what it is. Then I changed it to a 14/16. But I also have an estimated 40 lbs worth of extra skin, most of it on my belly that needs to be removed so that's making me wear a bigger size to go over that and if that skin was already gone I could fit into the 14/16's. It all depends on how you feel, your muscle tone and how you carry the weight. This is me from a few days ago 5'8", 276 lbs in a size 18/20 dress.

This dress was a 36 and I got even bigger then that because for a long time this dress wouldn't fit and I considered it to be one of my "skinnier" dresses..........

Yep, she's totally amazing!

BTW: If anyone is interested in a new way of classifying women's body shapes (other than just apple and pear!) google Trinny and Susannah's (from what not to wear) 12 women's body types.

I think it is helpful to recognize that we all don't fit into 2 classifications!
