I was over 350 wearing a 28's and 30/32, now at 260 can wear most 18's and even some regular XL stuff, I am 5'10, I am like tree trunk equally fat all over, LOL with a large bone structure. One area is not worse than the other they are all bad! I will be thrilled to fit into a 12 which I don't think I have ever worn, honestly getting to a good 14 from any store will thrill me!

I don't know what my true size is. But here are some stats and the brands I wear. It can be really confusing.

Height= 5'4
Weight= 271.4
Build= Tiny, I'm bird boned covered in layer upon layer of fat (my xrays confirmed this ) Large PCOS belly
Bra Size= 40DD---Playtex and cheap walmart brands
Shirt Size = 3x or 22/24 however I try to get 26's to hide both belly and butt these are usually shirts sold at Cato's, Walmart, Ross
Pant= 3x or 22/24s but these are JMS brand. My Gloria Vanderbilts that are size 22 don't fit ---too tight
Panty Size- Size 10 Fruit of Loom cotton granny panties

I used to weigh 425 at 5'7" with a large frame. I wore a size 40w, and had my clothing custom made. MIB, Making It Big, is a wonderful on line clothing shop, located near Santa Rosa, CA; the never made me feel bad about my size. I was asked to model for them as well, and did modeling for Lane Bryant. My measurements were 68-60-68; wider than I was tall!
I am now 197, size 14/16, L to XL blouse depending upon the cut; a size 14w or 16 misses in pants. I wore these sizes in high school! My measurements are now 42-34-42. Prior to menopause setting in, the waist was 32. Dang it! I'm still not motivated to work out! Ah well, one disaster at a time to tackle!! LOL

I am 5'9" but small boned and currently weigh 133lbs. I think sizing is somewhat inconsistent between brands. Right now I'm mostly wearing 8's although I have some 6's and 10's I can still wear. A couple of years ago when I weighed 127 I mostly wore 6's & 8's. I do know that sizing has changed over the years. When I was younger and weighed 121 my size at the time was a 12! I guess manufacturers now are trying to make us feel better by lowering the size numbers.

Thanks, Harriet! I've been at this weight for about a month, but I'm still losing inches: I couldn't fit into these jeans a few weeks ago. It's all progress, and I'll take it!

Harriet - your story is always amazing!

Catzmom - same boat here. I don't understand how a 30lb difference can still wear the same size, but it does and I do.

I am 5'7 and big boned.

My Biggest weight - 267lbs
My lowest adult weight - 118lbs
My Atkins Start weight - 200lbs
My current weight - 184.1lbs
My goal weight - 125lbs

Since I weighed 212 to present, I wear size 16 pants and XL shirts. Even down at 165 I still wore size 16. It's all about measurements, which for me never seem to deplete from the right places. For me I think my PCOS belly keeps me from going down in size.

Not quite 5'6". 221. Size 18 in jeans. Many XL's from the missy department. A couple of 1X from the women's section if I want something loose. I'll be in these sizes until probably 185-190. I'd love to be a size 6. That would likely be around 135-140.

5'4" 122 currently, ideal weight 118. Wear a size 2. As small as that sounds, I do not look skinny at all. I am very small-boned with round hips and butt, and any extra ounces go right to my hips. I have friends who wear much larger sizes that look thinner than I do. I look overweight anything above my current weight, which makes maintenance difficult!

Curves are a good thing! But if you still feel 'fluffy,' you may want to look into resistance training if you don't already do it. It can work wonders firming up the bits you aren't crazy about. Especially when you are a healthy weight already.

Just want to say sizes are misleading and vary widely. The more expensive the brand the smaller the size with the exception of the trendy overpriced jeans stores that cater to the very young... I can wear an x small bebe or bcbg and a medium from discount stores. Hollister jeans a size 3/ Dkny jeans, my size 2s are very loose and gaping at waist... It's pretty relative I think . When I was in the states and working I wore mostly Anne Taylor / White House black market/ taharivand the like and wore a 2 even heavier though my rue 21 bum around clothes were a bigger size. Dana Buchman / Ellen Tracy and the like ran HUGE and size 2 had to be altered down. Now I live in skirts and swimsuits ... Hard to gauge precisely

I am 5'1" and med/big boned.

At my highest I weighed 237 pounds
Pants= tight 20/22W depending on brand
top= 1x or XXL I have short arms so it always looked big in length but fit my girth

Current: 196 pounds
pants= comfortable 18 in misses
shirt= xl in misses but need a petite XL for length issues

Would love to be a comfortable size 8/10 like I was back in the 80's when I was in college.

Thank you, Skinny Train! I do work out, quite a bit. In fact, I credit weight training and HIIT for changing my formerly large but shapeless butt into the round bootie it is now. Some of us are never going to be willowy! At least with weight training we can be firm at our natural weight. I do wish more fashions were made for pear-shapes. Those skinny jeans are a disaster for ladies like me!

Hmmmm, your sizes are very confusing. The lowest Australian clothes go for adult women is usually size 8, very rarely a 6. I don't know what those sizes translate to in American?
Before LC I was a snug 18, and looking at 20 trousers, and a size 16-18 top.

Im now a loose 18, but not quite a 16 bottom, top the same. Start weight was 96.3kg ( 212lbs) . Current weight is 88.9kg ( 195.9lbs).

Bizarrely, my feet have potentially lost more weight than my body as all my shoes are giving me blisters and rubbing now, they never used to
