Macadamia Nuts

I can't any macadamia nuts in my local stores anymore! Arrgghh! Not at Walmart, Walgreens, or the local natural food store. I guess I'll have to order some online.

Is this happening in your area?

Costco stopped carrying them a few months ago.

Macadamias were always my favorite, but I've found that roasted pecans covered with melted butter and a little salt are even better than macadamias. A lot cheaper, too.

I don't buy them very often - they are expensive! So I surprised when I couldn't find them anymore.

I found that CVS pharmacy has them. Not sure if you have one around you.

Darn - no CVS's around here! They are an occasional treat for me, but I'll gladly try PianoAl's suggestion of pecans with melted butter! I love pecans too!

Walgreens sells them in the little packet, single serving size, by the other little packages of nuts. They are 99 cents and just enough!

Hope you find them!

Have you tried a regular grocery store? That is usually where I buy them. I just saw them on Saturday, so I know they still have them. They actually have more than one brand too. I buy the store brand because it is cheaper.

Now that you mention it, I was just at Costco today stocking up on things (chicken breasts, salami, etc.) and I went to the nut section for some roasted peanuts and don't recall seeing any macadamia nuts.

Hmmm ....

Different Walgreens stock them in different areas. The one I go to most often stocks them in the candy aisle. They also have small packages, but not the single servings, of sunflower seeds they stock in a different area near the register. Then they have another area where they stock the bigger cans and bags of nuts.

I do occasionally buy the Macadamia nuts from them, but they obviously use seconds and since they got rid of the clear packaging you can't see to pick the better looking ones. I do however like to buy the single serving of pistachios because I have no willpower over the amount of those I eat. If I buy a big package, I just can't stop myself from eating them. I have more willpower with macadamia nuts.

And they have had them at Walgreens here too, bought some a few weeks ago. There is definitely no shortage around here since I saw multiple brands at the grocery store, and saw the Walgreens ones.

I can buy a bulk sized bag for a very reasonable price at Sam's Club. I can...but I don't. I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to nuts and while macadamias may be ok...a whole bag (2 lb) in an hour is not.

Luckily, we'd stocked up when Walgreen's still had 2 oz packs for $.99:

I'm surprised people can't find those. I just checked my local Walgreens last night and they still had plenty.

Yes, I was just sick when Costco stopped carrying them. I have got them from Walgreens a couple of times but they are always out. When I get to the bay area I get them from the bins at Sprouts, I like they have roasted unsalted but are sold out a lot and they are 11.99 a lb. a bit much but they are my favorites so I try to have a couple of pounds around at all times.

BJs and Publix have them here in Florida.

Wal-Mart went through a remodeling, and dropped about two dozen things that we used to buy weekly. We get them elsewhere now.

Seems like stupid marketing to me.
