Fiber Supplement?

Things are going great on the LC diet so far. Almost a month in with only one cheat day haha. Anyway, my only problem is that apparently I'm not getting enough fiber in my diet, as certain "functions" are not as easy as they should be, or I don't even feel the need to go at all for more than a day.

Can someone recommend a supplement that I can take once a day or once every few days that can grease the wheels a bit? I'll take easy food suggestions as well, but I'm pretty content with what I'm eating right now.

Thanks!

You will get a lot of advice on this, but I'll share the only thing that helps me (and I have a history of problems with regularity)--psyllium, which is what Dr. Atkins initially recommended.

I buy it in powder form from Netrition, and although it can be added to shakes, I prefer adding it to my food. Usually 2 Tablespoons a day (separately) is enough to keep me regular, but you have to be sure to drink a lot of fluids along with the psyllium.

You could try adding Oat Fiber to some of your foods..you can buy it at Netrition.com also.
Not sure where you are on your carb allowance and if its available in your area but Flat Out Light wraps have like 9g of fiber (6 net carbs) per wrap. They taste pretty good and really get 'things going'. I make little pizzas w. mine.

As you will see if you search the board, the advice usually resolves into two options. Continue to irritate your bowels with fiber to promote daily movements, or avoid fiber and increase fats while your intestines heal themselves and learn to work with the lowered volume.

Your choice. The only thing I like to make sure folks know is that "regular" doesn't necessarily mean "daily". The idea that one must have a movement every day is an invention of the laxative companies.

I have added magnesium 250 at night. It helps me sleep and keeps things moving perfectly & daily for me. Flax can also be a good addition, and lots of water!

The Eades are big on this, of course. I think it's a "your mileage may vary" thing though. All I know is that I feel uncomfortable when I don't eliminate pretty much daily, and SO MUCH BETTER when I do.

I suggest you check out the flax muffin recipes on this site. They make a wonderful breakfast and they work like a charm for me.

Thanks for the advice folks. Think I'm going to try those 1 minute muffins with the flax meal. Need a quick breakfast item, so i guess I can kill two birds with one stone.

Fiber is overrated.

Magnesium keeps things moving here.

I started out taking the psyllium fiber pills, but after about 1 1/2 months low carbing I found that I didn't need them anymore or maybe I just discovered magnesium supplements?

I do fine as long as I take a magnesium supplement.

What other supplements are you taking? You should consider a good quality cod liver oil capsule.

I take both a cod liver oil capsule and a flax seed oil capsule with my multi vitamins and my trains arrive at the station on time.
