last 10 pounds
I have lost 40 pounds in the last 15 weeks and have another 10 pounds to go to reach my goal weight. My weight loss has stalled out for 2.5 weeks. I have read quite a few times that the last 10 pounds are slow to come off. I am curious if any of you have experienced this and if you changed anything ie. increased your exercise or lowered your cloric intake?
Thanks |

Congrats on the loss! You are a pretty fast loser at 2.67 lbs average per week and IMHO your body is just trying to adjust to the rapid weight loss. 2.5 weeks with no loss is not a true stall-over 4 weeks with no weight loss or loss in inches is considered a stall. I would start taking some measurements at this point to see a true picture of things. Don't start tweaking or experimenting-if it ain't broke don't fix it. Starting an exercise program can cause some water retention in the muscles which is why you should measure inches and not just go by the scale number-it simply doesn't give you a true picture of body composition.

I never understood why it is so hard to get the last 10lbs. off. How does your body know that you only want to lose 10 more lbs.?

When I stalled for two months, I counted calories (1200-1400/day) for the last ten pounds, and it came off in two months.
Since then, I've returned to not-counting-calories and lost an additional 5 pounds since April, so I believe I would have continued to lose, albeit more slowly, even without cutting calories. My body was much more willing to release excess fat when there was more excess available. One thing I noticed in the last half of my weight loss was that I hit plateaus that would last about six weeks, then lost a significant portion for about two weeks. It seems to have continued that way since goal.

I have eight pounds to go and it has been really slow going. Really.slow.
I think I will count calories, strict, to see if that will help. |

I need to lose about 10 more also. I am experimenting with cal/carb cycling this week to see if it makes a difference. I also will be changing more or my cardio workouts to interval rather than steady state.

I have been trying for the last year to lose the last 10 pounds. Fiddled with Fit Day on Oct. 30th with foods I usually eat and got the fat and carbs where I wanted them. I have lost 3 1/2 pounds since then. Will keep you posted if this continues to work for the last 6 1/2 lbs!
This is what I have been mainly eating since then except on Sunday. B - 2 fried eggs in 2 tbl. of butter 2 large cups of almost decaf coffee with 1/4 cup total of heavy cream L - 1 cup of cooked hamburg 1 cup of lettuce with homemade olive oil, vinegar and a dab of mustard dressing 1 cup of green tea D - 1 cup of cooked hamburg 2 cups of lettuce with olive oil and vinegar dressing 1 16oz bottle of water 2 5oz glasses of red wine The main difference on Sunday was 3 slices of bacon with eggs in morning. This was after church so I didn't eat lunch and had the cup of hamburg and cup of lettuce again for dinner. According to Fit Day I am eating between 1400 and 1550 calories a day, 66% fat, 19% protein and 4% carbs ( under 20 grams). Hoping this will get off these last 10 pounds I have been trying to shed for months. I will keep you posted. |

time to put it into perspective
i have lost 60 lbs in 7 months, which is 1/2 the weight I lost 3 yrs ago in the same amount of time. You guys will lose your last 10 lbs in a matter of a few months. I will lose my remaining 170 lbs in a matter of years. It WILL happen because I no longer stress over the HOW MUCH & the HOW LONG. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Hey rqw1968!
I have wine every day. I think that by reducing my calories and still keeping carbs under 20 grams a day has been a big help. For the last 3 years I have been low and then very low carb but would eat as much meat as I wanted or maybe more than I wanted. Probably too many calories at my weight now. I am only 5' 1 1/2" |

Hiya back, Abigale !
![]() From what I understand, our bodies will burn off the alcohol before it goes after carbs and fat. If you're maintaining even with 2 glasses of wine, it might help to cut them out for a bit until you reach goal. Then, in maintenance, you can go back to your regular way of eating. WTG at being so close to your end number !!! :kick: |
