WOE: low carb
weird question - itchy belly

My belly is itchy. There is no sign of a rash and my skin isn't dry, yet my belly itches. It kind of reminds me of the itch I had when I was pregnant. In fact, the spots that are the itchiest are the areas where my stretch marks are. I'd like to think this has something to do with weight loss, but honestly I don't know.

Does anyone else have this?

Well I was going to say Candida rash but you don't have a rash!

I get a rash on my chest and lower back when I eat VLC from the yeast dying. If I eat just a few more carbs it goes away, then comes back again. Very annoying. I think I need to go zero carb for like a week and just kill those suckers and get it over with.

no, but my lower back has been very itchy lately! no sign of any rash or disturbance at all. I just try to use moisturizer more often there.

I have no idea. May it be due to the cloth or garter friction?

Don't know why, but ME TOO!!
And like you said - more on my lower belly where it used to itch when I was pregnant. I do tend to have dry skin, although i don't seem to now, and I have found that using lotion does help.
I've also noticed itchiness in my saddlebag area on my hips/thighs. I wonder if it is something to do with losing the weight there - maybe the fat going out of the cells releases something that makes it itch?? I have no idea!

I also get this. I'm a 36 year old male. I'm relatively certain it's not menopause.

In my case, I have no rash. I get it on my belly and sort of frontal armpit/pectoral muscle area. Basically where the deepest stretch marks are.

I tell myself it's my skin healing. Like, when you skin a knee and it's healing, it itches. My skin has been slowly stretching for years. It's finally got some releaf. I don't know if this is the case, but it's what I tell myself. It's clearly those areas and there is nothing visual or outside the norm. It feels like a good itch (if there is such a thing)...

Two cents.

Lace makes me itch on my back especially! So lace underwear is a no-no!

When you begin lowcarb, you drink a LOT....and when you don't notice a weight change on the scale...the water fills up your little fat cells as the fat is excreted. When I'm fully in ketosis, and I'm about to lose another size...my belly itches really badly from just the water filling the fat cells. I felt it all along while I lost. And sometimes I miss it.

Yes, when I lose weight rapidly...new stretch marks form. They basically form where the pregnancy ones left off (up above my belly button now). Before you can see the red mark, I have itching and stinging.

When I first began to low carb and was losing weight quite rapidly,my belly was so itchy,I could not help but scratch it! Creams and lotions didn't help, finally I tried an ice pack on the belly and got relief

I went for months with this problem during my weight loss phase. There was never any rash, but it drove me nuts. It went away as suddenly as it came on and never came back. I did lose a lot of stomach girth during that time. I used a lot of Gold Bond lotion.

I had a LOT of itching and it turned out that I had cellulitus. I was put on antibiotics for 10 days and the itching is gone...thankfully.

Hm. No it isn't that bad. And there is no redness or anything. It comes and goes.

This is a good thing, your fat is releasing which leaves a pool of watery gooo, that gooo sort of slushes around under your skin...the skin shrinks, and it itches...you are losing weight.

Good job.

Why would you get stretch marks from losing weight? Isn't that the opposite of stretching?

You don't get them from losing weight, they are already there, when you lose weight the 'stretch' goes out of them and it itches, they can actually become noticeable for the first time at this point.

Yes, I get that...I was quoting PaulaBob and asking her because she said:

No, I definitely get brand new ones - spanking brand new red scars that slowly fade to silver. Keep in mind I'm really really really prone to them and never seen anyone that has them like I do. Bit like a busy interstate map on my belly.

Hmmm I don't have that, hope I never get it. I've lost a lot in my stomach and legs, I can see a little extra skin from the shrinking, but no itching but I use a lot of lotion all the time and my skin has always been firm and tight like so maybe there won't be too many stretch marks.

I am prone too. I had them when I was rail thin as a kid. It sucks. And after being pregnant twice..oh lordy forget it there is no hope for me.
