Just had Novasure Procedure done

I had the novasure procedure done yesterday morning at 7am. I had restarted lowcarbing 8 days prior and had lost 9 pounds. I have stayed in ketosis this entire time. I am now up 8 pounds since I was up early tuesday monring. Really stressed out............what coudl this be. I know I got some IV fluids but this is insane. I feel like I am gaining weight hourly!

fluids during surgery can certainly do this...especially if it is saline. Give it a few days and hopefully that water weight will come right off. I have even had pitting edema before after surgery due to fluids. Drink lots of fluids in the meantime...hope this helps!

I hope it goes away soon. I have been drinking lots of water. I have been reading some tonight on people who gain weight after having the procedure done. Some were 3-12 months out and say each month they gain weight. Anyone else have this done and what was your experience?

I've had an ablation and did not gain weight. Water retention but not weight gain-your hormones play a big part in this.

How lond did it take you to lose the water weight? I am going to call my doctor in the AM if the scale does not go down. I am scared! I have been eating really low carb 5-10 a day.

You have just had anesthesia and an invasive procedure on your uterus-water retention is to be expected. Your body is healing and will retain water and your hormone levels are prolly fluctuating also. Just take a deep breath, stay hydrated and heal. Water retention is not weight gain.

do you have an excess of fluid in your feet, hands, or face? If so, I would call the doc for sure! If not...it's just probably gonna take a few days for everything to balance out again.

No not really. I had pre-eclampsia with both kids so I know what that looks like. You all are probably right. I just hate to see a higher number on the scales! So far though I have had no bleeding/leaking from the surgery. I was told that there woudl be some for up to 3 weeks. If it makes a difference I also had a D and C and a hyterscope done as well.

I have a chronic health condition, and I've had to have many, many surgeries. My surgeon always told me not to weigh for about 1-2 weeks, during recovery. After one procedure, I decided to ignore his advise and pulled out my scale 2 days afterwards. I had put on 12 lbs! It all came off within 10 days, with normal eating. Hang in there.........it's almost certainly retained fluid & swelling.

Did the I.V solution contain any sugar as in glucose, Mine did last year and I made them stop it as I was a wake and able to get in enough fluids on my own.

I had the same stuff done as you on July 2nd - Novasure, D&C, hysteroscope, .... general anesthesia.

I didn't start lowcarbing until last week though so not sure what effect that had. I have not had a real "period" since though, I've only had one episode of mild spotting for two days and that's it. Doctor said I may not get period again, which is awesome. I do notice that since I am not menopausal or even really premenopausal (periods were quite regular) that around the time I was SUPPOSED to get my period I still feel bloated and experience cravings. No cramping though and no bleeding.

All I can say? Greatest procedure ever! I'm hoping once your body is fully recovered, you'll see a big woosh of water weight.

I'm sorry too that I was not LC'ing at the time of my procedure so I've no clue how long I retained water. Also, everyone is so different. I would agree that should you continue to be concerned, you should contact your physician.

I'm not sure what novasure is, but it's obviously some kind of surgery. They may have given you a glucose drip that knocked you out of ketosis and you may also be reatining water. Just stick to your plan and the water weight will come off.

It's an endometrial ablation (of the uterus).

I had this procedure done the end of June and I honestly do not remember this happening to me. I hadn't started Atkins fully yet at that point, I had just cut out bread and pasta. I am thinking it must have something to do with the anesthesia or the fluids you were given. Just don't give up. Hang in there. I have felt pretty good since I had the procedure in June. Waiting the 6 months to see if it really worked though.

I had the novasure done in May only using oral meds as anesthesia and still had bloating for several weeks. It will pass as you heal. Great results no period since procedure but I still have pms and the related bloating and irritability each month but w/o the actual flow.

EVERY time I have anesthesia and an IV drip I GAIN 10 pounds. It's all water-don't freak. The first time it happened I did freak and it was years before I tried LC again. Don't be that person. Just give yourself a few days - You'll be fine.
