Yet another try...

I have started induction at least a dozen times over the last couple of years. I currently have 50 plus pounds to lose.

After my first son was born 10 years ago, I did Atkins induction for 3 months and lost 35 lbs and was thrilled! A decade and another son later, I'm up to my all time high - pregnancy weight included.

My problem is that I can't make it more than a day or two without cracking and giving in. I so badly want to find that determination I had in the past but I fear I don't have it in me. I keep thinking that this time will be the time it sticks.

My weight is no longer about vanity, I'm afraid for my over all health is going to be compromised if I don't get this weight off.

Not sure why I am posting this as I know there are a million threads that are just like mine but I'm hoping that by throwing it out there for all to read, maybe I will be more accountable and make it work this time.

So anyway, here I go. Wish me luck!

Welcome back!

Just do it! You can, you've done it before. I also have 50 or so to lose. I lost about that in '06, but another couple pregnancies intervened...

We have a new challenge going on the challenge board, you are welcome to join us!
A NEW ME FOR THE NEW YEAR!

When I started back I skipped induction and jumped right into ongoing weight loss. It worked for me. More choices and easier to live with.

Exactly what I was going to suggest!

Induction isn't even a part of many low carb programs, and if it is where you are *breaking* time and time again, why not just skip that part of it altogether?

You can always tighten things up a bit down the line if you choose to do so. But get there first.. that's the important part.

Fill your kitchen with induction friendly foods...yummmie ones like Deviled Eggs, , sliced steak ,string cheese... That way , while eating all these yummie food you don't feel like you are deprived.

I have recently gotten back on track. It's not easy. One thing that helps me is to have LOTS of allowable foods that I really like available to keep the temptation at bay. You can do it!

It's hard for me too. This is my 3rd or 4th time restarting...I have only lasted 1 week max on induction in the past...I would have one cheat and then say well I'm out of ketosis so I can restart tomorrow and I never restart. This time I am shooting for a 2 week clean induction with no cheats. We'll see if I can do it. Then I'm going to follow the rungs and add back allowed foods as soon as I'm allowed. I think that's the only way I will make it!

If I fail at induction this time (which I'm determined not too), I think I will restart at OWL. I have 30 lbs to lose...my motivation is wanting to get preggo again...but I don't want to do it until I can get down to my last pre-pregnancy weight (around 160 lbs). Maybe this goal will help me??

Try mapping out all of your meals and snacks for the next few days and setting aside the food needed (in a special corner of the fridge or cupboard) so you know where to look when hunger sets in. Sometimes it's easier to see exactly what you're allowed, rather than have nothing planned and give in to mindless snacking.

Unfortunately, you won't be successful until you're ready and motivated to be totally committed to staying on plan. Maybe it will be your doc giving you the choice of medication or diet change, maybe it will be joining a group challenge at work or maybe it will take looking inside yourself and deciding once and for all you want a healthy life...everybody is different in what motivates them.
