how to have more energy???

I feel like i can't do much, like i'm getting too old. I sweat all the time, i'm hot all the time, everything i do just wears me out!!! And, also...now i've noticed since i started LC that when i go up stairs now my legs hurt like never before....like i have no muscle...lol..it's weird and it makes it even harder to go up the stairs. Any suggestion? Anyone else go through this? Maybe i need to take some vitamins or something too.

Hey I feel the same way....I am 30 years old. I used to jog a ton!!! I wonder what that means... And I am taking a multi-vitamin, and extra magnesium and potassium... How long have you been on LC and have you been losing weight since starting???

I can relate but in my case it is due to my thyroid.
Sucks having thyroid issues, but at the same time I was thrilled to finally find out the reason why I felt the way I did.

Not saying that you have thyroid issues.
Just sharing my experience in feeling the way you described.

I have more energy than I ever had! No supplements now that I am on maintenance. I am 63. Stick with your plan and if you have the Atkins book read it carefully.

I am not sure what 'your way' is, but there are a lot of adjustments going on in your body during the first few weeks of LC eating, so give it time. I am sure you will get lots of other good advice here.

Good luck.

Depending on how long you've been low-carbing, it could just be "induction flu" where your body is adjusting to ketosis.

Or it could be that you need to adjust your WOE to suit yourself; one person's low-carb is another person's total loss of energy. I had been seriously lc'ing for about three weeks when I hit a complete wall last week. I was so tired on Saturday I had to nap at noon and then went to bed at 8:45 pm. My muscles had no energy at all; they were like dead weight. I'm through it now but I don't know what exactly helped, so I'll throw out a few possibilities and maybe they can help you.

The day after the crash, I had an indulgent day where I ate 2500 calories, but those were high fat/moderate protein/low carb calories. The biggest indulgence was two tablespoons of almond butter and 16 dark chocolate chips so it wasn't some sort of free-for-all. Maybe that replenished my glycogen stores; I don't know, but since then I've been feeling awesome and was able to get back to my plan.

I've heard people say that some people need more carbs than others so you might experiment with adding in something extra like berries. I started having a one-minute muffin each afternoon.

Another issue is just finding the right amount of daily calories; I think some people find that if they go too low they stop losing (and I imagine lack energy too). I'm shooting for 1800 calories a day even though I usually don't feel like that much fat and protein. I'd be happy to have more almond butter and chocolate chips but I am worried that would set off too many cravings.

I'm also taking supplements so that might make a difference: chromium picolinate to help with cravings, acetyl-l-carnitine for better energy (haven't noticed any extra energy from that though), cal/mag/zinc, vitamin D, b-complex, and fish oil. Plus I take a tablespoon or two of MCT oil in the morning (medium-chain triglyceride oil which is supposed to be easily burned for energy). At night I take magnesium and taurine since they are relaxing. I have tried NoSalt potassium but it didn't seem to make much difference to my energy levels.

I hope you get through it soon -- I know how awful that lack of energy can be! Good luck!

Sounds very much like how I felt when my Vitamin D levels were rock bottom. Have you had your levels checked? It's a simple blood test you can ask you doctor for.

See if a Vitamin D-3 supplement makes you feel better... I take 5,000 mg. per day...anything less than that and I feel tired and achey... Good luck
