Have you made yourself over?

Since your weight loss, have you done anything radically different to alter your appearance?

Thinking about cutting my hair, but I'm scared Not sure my face is "slim enough" yet to carry off a short haircut. Plus I've been using my hair to hide my fat cheeks.

Nope ... nothing radical. ... Guess I've been me too long.

After fifty-six years of being average weight - realizing I was well overweight at age
fifty-seven - then losing, then yo-yoing, - was about all the change I could handle. lol.

After years of wearing huge baggy things in order to "hide" my weight (haha) I'm finally wearing fitted clothes. People think I've lost more than I actually have because my old clothes made me look even bigger than I was.

When I lose weight I always go from wearing t.shirts to cute little tank tops and halter neck shirts to show off my arms. I dress better for sure!!

Get your hair cut. It will be a brand new start to a brand new life!!

I've kept much the same, but now have the confidence to go out with my natural wavy/curly hair when I don't feel like straightening it (before I would ALWAYS straighten it no matter what) and I barely wear make up any more now my skin is 100% better.

Oh yeah, totally! I wear cute clothes that actually fit my form. I changed my glasses and my hair. I wear heels and cute shoes and buy expensive handbags, something I never felt I deserved previously. After all, it looks really strange to be wear sloppy clothes and then tote around a $300 purse.

I also buy expensive lingerie. I still am cheap regarding the actual clothes, but they have to fit right and make me look good. I didn't lose 65 lbs to look like a frump!

Get your hair cut, if you want to. it will energize your life!

I'm letting mine grow, actually. It's longer than it's been in 20 years, I think. I like it! And differently styled clothes as I lose too.

I'd like to give myself a makeover, but after being overweight and trying to make myself invisible for all of my adult life, I don't know where to start!

I'd love to wear make-up and nice clothes, but haven't a clue what suits me at all!

Oh yeah....I definitely made a new me!! My wardrobe changed to more taylored, properly fitting clothes and I had my hair cut and highlighted. I pretty much transformed myself. It was also towards the end of my weight loss journey that I added in my weight training and kickboxing. I decided that sculpting my body (as much as a 40+ year old woman that lost over 200 pounds can sculpt....) was a part of my overall transformation.

Post a pic and take a poll. I'm sure some computer geek who is good with photoshop can do some simulations.

The good news is that if you don't like it, the hair will grow back.

Now, what do you think I should do with MY hair?

Mary Kay website has a really nice virtual makeover tool. You upload a picture of your face with your hair pulled back, then you can add make-up and different hairstyles....its really fun!

yep- my hair is shorter, my clothes are more fitted and more feminine, I actually wear makeup and my new glasses are minimalist- not the thick colourful plastic frames that used to hide my face.

kinda ....

I've been growing my hair out ...new little gray streaks and all, lol! I've always had it long because for some reason I thought I could hide my fatness that way, lol! ... now I've noticed that all the old ladies have short hair and soooooo I'm keeping it longish to stave off old age as long as possible, lol!

I do notice that now I am thin that my hair color does not really matter so much to me .. and I am liking it darker rather than lighter, lol!!!

178.4??!!! I say, break out the cheekbones Girl!!!!!

Oh yes! I totally reinvented myself. Went from big, baggy frumpy clothes to form fitting clothes that show off my new skinny self. I used to never even wear jeans period. They were just too uncomfortable, now i love to wear jeans. I am a shoe fanatic now! I love to wear high heels and i love to dress really nice and professional at work and look and feel professional instead of hiding behind baggy black slacks and huge shirts. I have always wore makeup and fixed my hair but now i just take more time in these things, especially when going to work. On the weekends a spaghetti strap top that shows my nice arms and shoulder blades that i used to never have! And on weekends sometimes i dont even wear makeup and put my hair up and still feel pretty.

Cut the hair! I wish i could cut mine sometimes. i go thru spurts where i want to and then i chicken out so i do understnad that.

I have never worn much makeup and lately I have really been enjoying playing around with it more. I'm not sure if it's because I'm losing weight or getting older or because it's fun to play with makeup with my three year old daughter! Anyway, I like it and I can definitely tell the difference in photos of me. I look so much more put together with a little lip gloss on and something defining my eyes. I think feeling thinner does inspire me to try to look prettier.

ETA: Unlike in my avi where my hair is all pulled back and messy and I DON'T look pulled together!

I too cut my hair.. From mid/lower back to shoulder length, I was hiding as I knew I had nice hair, but I was ready to show my nice (thinner) face..

Go to a good stylist and just do it! As long as you know it is a good stylist who will do what works for your face type, I say jump in.. No regrets!! I am sure it will be beautiful!

I say "go for it!" Once when I was younger I was watching Oprah, and she said "always strive to look the best that you can look" or something to that effect, and for some reason that stuck. No matter what your weight, or anything else. Play up your best features. I have always made an effort, even when I was heavier (maybe even more when I was heavier) to make sure that I take time to put on my make-up, wear cute clothes and lingerie, cute shoes, and make sure my hair is maintained. I won't go to the grocery store without at least some mascara and lip color on, and if my hair is in a ponytail, it's got to be a good ponytail, not just an "I'm having a crappy hair day" ponytail.

That's so funny in a sad way! I know that tight clothes can make us look really FAT but to find out that huge baggy clothes do the same thing is just not fair! Ah well clothes that fit the body you/I have would be a wise goal.

Interesting point...I saw a woman at the groc store last week with a $1200 handbag. At first I thought "what is a college student doing with such an expensive bag!" ....then I realized she was just very slender and that made her look SUPER young, till I got a good look at her face. Then I realized she was my age.

When I reach my goal I will buy some very expensive jeans that make me look totally stunning!!
