It also goes over how this myth has been institutionalised despite the serious lack of scientific evidence. I have just begun to read this book- but the entire first section in on fat intake and the heart. Definitely worth reading before you make your decision.
I agree 100% with this. 230 is NOT important. What is your hdl and triglycerides? If you eat a SB diet, you will probably increase your trig. dramatically from grain and "fake" low fat foods, and your hdl could drop to an unhealthy level. Those are the things that will cause inflammation in the arteries. Please take the time to do some reading and educate yourself about this. I respect my dr too and really like him as a person but we are polar opposites when it comes to diet. Google "the cholesterol myth"--very interesting and eye opening information. I highly recommend GCBC too but you can also go to you tube and put Gary Taubes name in search--there are losts of his lectures and they are excellent. Good fat (yes, saturated fat) is good for our hearts---not grains and low fat!

I totally agree. I'm a nurse on a cardiac unit and I fail to see the correlation between heart disease, MIs, and patients needing open heart surgery. I've seen people with excellent numbers have major heart attacks and need emergency bypass. How can that be explained? I think there is a whole that doctors and researchers don't know but figure they have to try to give an acceptable answer.

With a little help from the brainwashing of Big Pharma of course.

And I prefer a 'don't know' as it is the truth and the potential for damage less!!

The cardiac surgeon makes a lot of money by opening someone up. I was listening to a pod cast once of a heart surgeon who now recommends low carb for his heart disease patients and admitted himself that it is big money.
