Cherry tomatoes and Penuts

(OOPS! Spelled Peanuts wrong lol!!)

Do any of you add these to you woe, and how much?

I ate some cherry tomatoes today (not sure how many!!) and I love them...until I saw the carb count on a website. I didn't just eat four - which is about 2.5 net carbs. I also ate peanuts, and did a guess on how much 39 pieces were. That was about 3 net carbs.

Have you had any problem with these? Feeling a little concerned lol

Thanks!

I have had no problems with tomatoes. Big ones or cherrys.

I haven't added legumes yet. I'm a little afraid of them. And I don't think I'm really ready for that rung yet. Put the OWL rungs in my siggy 'cause I can NEVER remember them in the right order.

You're wise to be concerned about new foods. Consider where you are in your WOE and count the carbs carefully. Just go easy if you decide to include them.

What is your carb limit? You won't know how much you can have and either stop losing or gain until you try adding foods. It's an individual thing.

cherry tomatoes are great because you can have several of the really small marble sized ones in an ounce. I try to limit myself to one ounce of tomato.

I love them both. I just limit portions when I eat them. I don't treat it the same as I would say baby spinach.

Tomatoes are fine....I consider them a "vegetable". Peanuts technically are legumes and higher in carbs than true "nuts". Some people tolerate them fine, others are highly allergic. It's all in how your body reacts to them.

i have not added peanuts or peanut butter yet.

technically, so i am told, peanuts are legumes, not nuts per se. right now, i stick with walnuts, almonds and the like. as with tomatos (or tomahtos)of all kinds, i am very careful with portions. btw: try grape tomatoes. they explode with flavor in your mouth. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

I look at it this way--I love tomatos...'specially picked from my backyard in the summer. It's all about portion control and I won't deprive myself of a sun ripend tomato! My big goal is learning moderation...not living without. Part of the learning process to healthy eating!!

speaking of tomatos:

insofar as tomatos are a member of the nightshade family of plants, would it not make more logical sense, to have them moon ripened and moon dried? FF

I LOVE tomatoes but must use portion control - meaning that I weigh them. I cannot keep peanuts in the house because I can't seem to limit them and the same is so of cashews. But I do enjoy a few when out!

Peanuts trigger AWFUL cravings for me. I have trouble stopping once I start. I do MUCH better with walnuts and almonds.

I eat grape tomatoes, like 5-8 in my salad.

I have no problems with peanuts or tomatoes. I do, however, watch my portion. Don't count specifics, but I have enough to satisfy me.

For awhile I'd been avoiding tomatoes, actually. Because they are a more carby vegetable, I hadn't bought them for myself in awhile. Just so happens I bought some today as they were on sale, and I just popped 3 of them in my mouth... they can be dangerous! I will just be using them in my salads but avoiding the popping impulse now

As for peanuts, I have a problem in general with nuts if I don't portion them correctly. It's not only the carbs but they're a whammie in the calorie department too, so I have to make myself baggies of specific portion sizes when I buy a bag of nuts or I go overboard.

By no means should you exclude them though, find the portion size that works for you and just stick to it, you should have no problems

I too have to watch how many tomatoes I eat. The only month that I gained weight in the last 18 was a month that I ate two quarts of canned tomatoes. Learned my lesson.... moderation in everything.

We have a few cherry tomatoe plants in my wife's flowers right outside our back door. I pick 3-4 daily and eat them with one of my meals. I love them and don't consider an ounce of them daily will hurt my weight loss. Plus, they are really good for you re: vitas and anti-oxidents.

Hi crystal…
I eat both on a regular basis.

I rarely have more than 1/2 - 3/4 cup of peanuts in a day, not out of concern of stalls, but not wanting to spend any more of my carbs. I cook with them and prep food with them as well eating them plain. And sometimes I sprinkle them liberally with TrueLime powder and Cajun seasoning...or a little garlic powder and cajun seasoning.

I use tomatoes at the rate of about a pound a month usually in the form of cherry or grape tomatoes. We eat them raw, and in cooking. Three or four grape tomatoes cut up and added to onion, and bell peppers & sautéd as a base for omelets are wonderful.

For me it's all about staying within my 30 net carbs a day and not what the particular carbs are. My body seems to like 30 net carbs of about anything...so do my brain, and tastebuds.

I just prefer not to eat all 30 of my daily net carbs as peanuts or tomatoes.

I have never thought twice about tomatoes (or onions for that matter), neither on induction or now. I have always eaten them and never had any issues. I don't eat an entire onion or a huge tomato in one meal though obviously.

I LOVE boiled peanuts and eat them very often now. We have a place down the highway that sells Cajun style ones.. DH buys a pound or two a week. I will measure out 2 Cups of them (still in the shell) and eat them for lunch from time to time, lately even twice a week. I am not having any issues with them taking me out of ketosis. I am up to 45 carbs a day and staying in!

PS.. LOVE tomatoes in my eggs.. onion, red bell and tomato is my very fav. omelette.
