i don't even realize i am morbidly obese...until

some snot nose kid points and yells.."ooh mommy look..he's fat!!!. I have been feeling so good the last 2 months, that i feel like Superman. Sometimes I catch my reflection in a store window. (i do not have a full length mirror at home). The odd thing is that I did not suffer the withdrawal symptoms that afflict many inductees or re-inductees. I did have very little energy for a while, but i am gradually feeling more energetic. But it feels good to feel good. That alone is a great reason to continue with ATKINS. oh FF, i'm so sorry that happened to you! i had a similar experience when i brought my oldest son to the park a few years back...a group of older boys started yelling "hey fatty" at me. i *knew* i was fat, it wasn't until then that i realized i was that size...ya know?

FF....sorry that you had to hear that.....but glad that it didn't interfere with all the progress you are making. I have been victim of a driveby insult too, and sometimes even adults. Some people are just mean....this kid probably should have known better and hopefully, his parents teach him better.

Have a good day.

Flatferenghi- Dont let one bratty kid with no manners get you down...just remember that good feeling you have now and it will just get better. Each pound you lose will make it easier to fly superman!
I really didnt get the withdrawal symptoms either but i have been on and off atkins for years and i never did it right i was eating tic tacs like they were going outta style and i realize now each one has a carb in it. Im doing it right this time and def feel more energy and its only been about 5 days. Good luck!!

Flatferenghi, *hugs*
At least you can change your body -- it's not so easy to change congenital rudeness. And it may be something even sadder. I was the mother of that child while in a waiting room with my autistic daughter last week. She pointed at me and labeled me "mommy" (excellent!)... then pointed at a woman holding a baby and labeled her as "BIG mommy, REALLY big mommy."

I, you know, wanted to die.

Kids! They can be brutal. I can remember my then 3 yr. old patting my behind and chiming 'big bum, big bum.....'. He meant no harm but was just stating what he saw...social skills came later.

But I think I know what you mean about how you feel. I feel so much better than I did 30 lbs. ago. I still have a long way to go but just being here, in this moment is great - I would not have believed it!

2 things.
1: kids are brutally honest it's true BUT
2: their pov about what "fat" is is horribly skewed by cartoon "stick figure" type people and the same tv/media images of what is "normal" that we as adults are. They're just getting bombarded with the mental image that size 0 is normal a lot more often and early on than many of us did.

I've had that happen, and I know, it leaves a mark! One time my youngest son chased a kid down the street, across his front yard, right through his front door and past his startled parents to smack him for calling me "fat". Sounds like you're doing fine with your weight loss, so some day this will be a distant memory. You can add it to your anecdotes of things that happened to you when you "used to be fat."

Kids suck and parents don't raise them right. That's what I have to say in a nutshell.

You are doing great and you know you have come a long way. That little kid will probably be fat one day and regret saying that to you.

actually, i am used to it....

as long as the insults are not backed up with type 3 disruptors. My point was that, it takes something like that to give me a "reality check" because the physical consequences of ATKINS are so advantageous and downright pleasant. FF

i am certainly not expecting kids to change.

we, however, on Ferenghinar, do not have the "worship of youth" cult as is on your world. There are quite a lot of kids in labor camps on Ferenghinar for offenses less "severe" than mere blows to one's pride. Remember that i was exiled as a child merely because my lobes were too small. Kids, today, are lucky I don't run the show. FF

Sometimes kids are just brutally honest and it isn't about poor manners, it's because they haven't learned yet that we don't tell the truth in polite society. On the other hand the brutally honest child in my life who is 9 going on 5 told me the other day that it wasn't fun jiggling my belly any more because "your belly doesn't jelly anymore"

If it makes you feel any better, I'm sure most bums look big to 3 yr. olds.

It's AKA "lack of a filter"

My great-grandmother had the same problem LOL! She just blurted out what ever was on her mind.

sorry you felt bad.....but give yourself a 'pat on the back' for actively doing something to become healthier!

i did not really feel bad.

the real point of this thread was that ATKINS makes me feel so good that it takes such an editorial from a cretinous dwarf to make me realize i still loom quite large in my legend. FF
