I buy Now brand psyllium husk powder (plain, organic) from Netrition. It has only 1 net g of carbs per Tablespoon (7g fiber), and I usually only use 2 T a day.

I buy psyllium at Trader Joe's - it's called "Secrets of the Psyllium" and it's ONLY blonde psyllium seed husks, no additives. 2 tablespoons = 10 grams carbs, 10 grams fiber, 8 of which are soluble.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, Health Canada has an advisory on glucomman.

Health Canada is advising Canadians that natural health products containing the ingredient glucomannan in tablet, capsule or powder form, which are currently on the Canadian market, have a potential for harm if taken without at least 8 ounces of water or other fluid. The risk to Canadians includes choking and/or blockage of the throat, esophagus or intestine, according to international adverse reaction case reports. It is also important to note that these products should NOT be taken immediately before going to bed.

So if you use it make sure you get enough water - which is advisable with all fibre supplements.

You really can't have a 'no carb' fiber can you?? I mean, it pretty much has to have carbs but they just are not digestable correct??

fiber is a non digestible carbohydrate so are you subtracting the fiber from the carb count?
My personal favorites are chia and flax as fiber supps both have fatty acids which contribute to healthy digestion. Psyllium in my opinion is hard on the micro-villi especially if your digestion isn't in order.

I bought mine from Costco (Kirkland brand), and it has 5 g of fiber. I think 3 g are insoluble and 2 g are soluble. No other countable carbs at all. It is sugar free (aspartame, which I hate, but I need the fiber) with an orange flavor.

Hi Dennis,

I use FoodScience of Vermont's Clearly Fiber (available on-line).

Supplement Facts from Post #119 of this thread

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...splenda-4.html

"Clearly Fiber™ a fiber supplement to support intestinal regularity, and maintenance of cholesterol, triglyceride, and blood sugar levels within normal ranges.*

Clearly Fiber™ is a sugar-free, low calorie, all natural fiber product from digestion-resistant Maltodextrin.

Clearly Fiber™is different from other fiber products: no grit, no lumps, no flavor. It dissolves clearly in any cold or hot drink. It won't change the texture, taste or color of your favorite soft food or beverage. Add Clearly Fiber™ to water, coffee, soda, yogurt, applesauce, oatmeal, pudding, mashed potatoes, juice, and even sauces or soups. The possibilities are endless.

Clearly Fiber™ is an excellent source of fiber as well as a natural way to support proper bowel function, cholesterol levels, and healthy intestinal microflora.*

It would appear from above that the entire 5.85g (2 teaspoon serving) is Digestion Resistant Maltodextrin. I found it for ~$6.50, 176g (~6oz) 30-2 teaspoon servings. It also serves as an excellent medium with Sucralose or Neotame Powder for preparing equivalent Splenda Quick Packs...0 digestable carbs... ;-)
