Anyone else get hot flashes?

I'm back on Atkins but not doing full on induction. I'm eating about 30-40 net carbs per day (mostly from veggies). If I exert myself, I've been getting hot flashes. Is this normal? I don't feel "bad". I just have to sit down and cool off for a few. I'm 39, so I don't think I'm going through the change, LOL! This only started when I started Atkins this past Friday. BTW, I'm down 6 lbs. in 4 days. I know it's mostly water but very encouraging anyway.

You are probably in peri menopause and when you lose fat you dump estrogen in the body. Fat is full of estrogen and toxins and these can contribute to the hot flashes.

Also, you could just be stoking your metabolism and this could contribute to the hot feeling.

I get hot flashes in ketosis. I have no idea what causes it. I don't get hot flashes if I'm out of ketosis. I would love to know.

I get hot flashes when I cut my carbs low enough to be in ketosis. Everyone laughs at me because I'm only 27, definately not old enough for menopause, but I will turn the air down low and fan myself then get old and close every vent in my office. I never thought about it before, but it is usually when I'm keeping my carbs pretty low.

mine usually happens during the "withdrawl" phase if I'm just getting back on the wagon. It usually goes away soon!

Thanks everyone I didn't even think I could be in ketosis because my carbs are higher than normal for starting out. Is there a range in carbs where people could be in ketosis or does it depend on the person? I need to get some ketostix. It's been 10 years since I used them.

I have been taking HRT for 3 years (im 41) as I had premature menopause at 37 or so....and my hot flashes have been under control...UNTIL I started Atkins 1 week ago. Ive been flashing all night.....it seems that others are having this symptom too----thanks for the posts.....it seems to be a symptom of ketosis??

hot flashes

yes! I am 41--went through menopause 3 yrs ago and have been controlling symptoms for years with HRT----However, since starting Atkins 1 week ago I have been a hot mess----especially at night with the flashes....Im thinking it has to be the ketosis since I have had no flashes for years!
thanks for the post!
