low carb bbq sauce?

Any recommendations on a good one? Store bought/ordered or otherwise? What about a lc rub? Everything I see has sugar.

I usually make something from Dana Carpender's BBQ book.

My basic dry rub gets rave reviews, and is so simple...just salt, pepper, garlic powder & chili powder.

I was going to attempt to make my own with Heinz LC Ketchup as a base, but haven't gotten around to it yet. The weather has been crappy and I haven't gotten around to unpacking my new smoker. There's a brand on Netrition called Smokin' Joes I think, but I haven't personally tried it myself.

Here's a recipe I copied from somewhere on this site but I can't find the post! I have not tried it yet but she said it was really good and had no ingredients which i do not have on hand.

BBQ Sauce

1 cup sf ketchup
1/2 c diet coke
1 T grainy mustard
1 T cumin
1 T apple cider vinegar
1 T (sf) brown sugar, splenda or diabetisweet
salt and pepper
hot sauce to taste (chipotle or jalepeno rojo work equally as well)

combine and enjoy!

12 carbs and 78 calories for the whole batch

Here is mine...

1 c. LC ketchup
1/3 c. SF honey
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 cloves minced garlic

Whisk together and tah-dah! Yummy BBQ sauce. It makes alot, but it keeps well in the fridge in an air tight container for up to a month.

So go BBQ something tasty and come back and post what you thought of the sauce and of course pics of your food!

I usually make my own with 1 carb ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar twin, smoked chipotle and liquid smoke.

However I ordered Smokin Joe Jones from Netrition and its decent. I like things spicy so I added a bit of smoked chipotle to it and its great.

Here is one from my bookmarks:

Low carb sauce recipes | Low carb sauce

Ingredients:

1/2 bottle of low sugar ketchup
1 tablespoon of liquid smoke flavoring
1/4 cup of Splenda
3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves of garlic
1 minced onion
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
1 teaspoon of white pepper
pinch of chili powder

Combine the first three ingredients in a sauce pan. Let it cook for a while and stir. Add the rest of the ingredients, mix well and stir until it boils. Let it simmer for 1-2 hours, stir every once in a while.

I just learned of this one, made it and love it!

Primal BBQ Sauce. For an even lower carb count, I used crushed tomatoes and pureed them even further for a smooth consistency over the recommended tomato paste the recipe calls for. Using my method it has a carb count of 2g p/ half cup. Using the recipe shown it has 5g p/ 2T.

I will also use half the amount of dijon mustard next time.

i use Walden Farms combined with Chinese mustard.

it gives it a nice tang, w/o the need to call the fire Dept. Walden Farms tastes good, but a bit too bland by itself. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Homemade is always the best but I do want to try Nature's Hollow barbecue sauce. It's sweetened with xylitol and has nice clean ingredients

It is good and I add garlic and a bit of olive oil. My daughter is the BBQ sauce queen. I prefer dry rubs.
