Is anyone using CarbQuik on Extended Induction?

Putting together a Netrition order and wondering if I should include it.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

I do...I seldom eat above 20 carbs so I guess I'm on extended induction, even though I've been lcing so long that I consider myself on owl! I've used carbquik as breading on chicken, made pancakes and biscuits and have never had a problem.

It obviously wouldn't be extended induction if you use it. I think what many people MEAN when they say "extended induction" is that they are keeping their carbs below 20, but not necessarily limiting what makes up those carbs.

Carbquick isn't all that good. I think almond meal is MUCH more versatile and tasty, costs less, and has a better nutritional profile. But of course, that isn't induction either.

Thanks, I already have almond meal so I'll skip the carbquik, I was curious about it, but I'll stick with the almond meal I already have. I'll buy some hazelnut meal instead. According to the new book you can add nuts - 1 oz if you stay at Induction level carbs so I'll stick with the nuts. I usually mix nut flours with flax for my muffin or pancakes so I'm not gonna mess with success.

I need to experiment more with the carbquick, but it's so darned expensive and like 4 really mediocre things in a row I made with it, is not encouraging. I rarely make anything I don't love, but I seem able to do that without trouble with carbquick.

I am going to try making my own flour mixture one of these days, but you have to use a fair amount of it to really see the differences in iterations of ingredients, and I really can't use much and stay on my woe.

I really like bisquits and the promo information said it was similar to Bisquick.
I ordered a 3lb. box at a cost, delivered, of about $14. Oh well, if they are good it's worth it. I made 6 bisquits
and ended up eating one. I tried to eat another the next day thinking a night in the refridgerator might help. They were awful.
I don't want pancakes or breading, just bisquits on occasion. This was not the answer.

I actually like the stuff. Made some cinnamon rolls with it, not bad. I use it to add stick to my breading too.

If carbquick contains soy and/or nuts, it's for those rungs, unfortunately. If it contains gluten, you want to wait for the grain rung.

I have used it in the past when eating under 20 ("extended induction"). I love making the Haley's biscuits with it. The recipe is on LindaSue's website. I make a whole batch, freeze them, and eat them once in a while. They are the only thing I have made with the Carbquik. But for me, a die hard biscuit fan, it is worth the money

Horrible nasty twangy taste no matter what tips & hints I've followed will get rid of that taste. My family won't touch it either.

Right. I think LCFers would be better off not using the term "extended induction" when what they mean is OWL while keeping carbs under 20 grams per day. From what I see, 90% of the "extended induction" is modified OWL.

It's unfortunate that even in the NAFANY they hook together trying new carb sources and increasing your total carb intake in OWL. So many here do the first part while staying under 20 grams. Do we need a term for this?

I bought the huge box from Netrition. So far I've only made pancakes with it. I must say that they soaked up every drop of oil in the pan; so much so that I practically had to wring them out before eating them! But, they were pretty good. I put butter and Davinci pancake syrup on them. I haven't made them since, but I'm still glad I have Carbquick around, for the odd occasions when I feel like having something naughty.

Climbing the OWL rungs at 20 net or below is usually also referred to as Modified OWL.

It's definitely different than Extended Induction, which is following Induction rules for longer than the 2 weeks. :^0
