STRESS eating...

Hi all..

I am stressed out right now, and had a few days off this WOE.. I'm back on low carb.. not real low.. but maybe 40 carbs... my question is..

If Im eating low carb but eating to much will that hurt my progress as much as just eating what ever I want low carb or not? I'd like to maintain my weight, but I'm going through a stressful situation and feel hungry, or rather emotionally hungry.. if I eat low carb even thought I'm overeating some... maybe I will keep the weight off that I've lost..

Sorry for your stresses right now. Unfortunately if you eat more than your body needs you wil gain weight lc or not. Maybe just try to watch portion sizes and not overeat. Hope things get better.

Eating low carb food, even if it is a lot will (imo) be better for you , than diving into a chocolate cake. High sugar and fat foods are much worse for your body than eating higher fat and higher protein foods - plus it is harder to over eat the low carb stuff. I find homemade chicken soup a really good soother, or a cauliflower bake with cream. Go for nurturing and nourishing food, look after yourself !

Stress eating is hard for some to overcome. I would rather overeat with meats, eggs, and fats if I needed to. Most times it doesn't always work out that way.

Hate you are going through a tough time. I will tell you a quick story. I have a buddy that does WW and has lost about 100 lbs. He eats fruits daily. I have been LC WOE and stay at 25 or below of total carbs daily.

His wife offered me a banana during a visit. I said thanks, but no thank you. Buddy says to her, he can't eat that it will kill his WOE. The conversation then started about "mixing" the two ways of eating. Which, to be honest, is what it sounds like you are asking about doing? His answer to her and others in the room was, no you can't merge the two plans, that is how I got to be 350lbs in the first place.

Probably not what you want to hear, but try not to give in to the stress eating. I'm an emotional eater myself, but I just know how terrible I used to feel after giving in to emotional eating. Then I still have the issue that caused me stress + the weight gain if I over did it.

Try to find another outlet to deal with your stress. Believe me, I know its hard. I've been under tremendous stress lately but I refuse to give in to emotional eating.

Yep I totally agree. Sure, portions matter. But there will be times when we'll eat a lot more than we intend to. It's the combination that gets us. High fat and high carb? Man that spells doom.

So. Try to resist the stress eating. BUT if you do give in it's better to overeat ON your plan than off it.
