Golden Corral did NOT corral ME this time!!

I am beyond proud of my little triumph today!!

Well, before I would eat several plates... and I do mean several....of bbq ribs, corn, pizza, and baskets--baskets of rolls, and dessert, red velvet or chocolate volcano cake with ice cream. Oh and steak too, along with all of that. I haven't been there for over a year because frankly I was afraid I would weaken in my resolve to stick to low carb/low glycemic around all of those temptations

Today we went for Easter dinner, and this was my meal: I had 2 steaks(well almost 2, couldn't finish the second one), sauteed onions and peppers, sauteed mushrooms, and cabbage and bacon. Water to drink, and no dessert. A little bit of rotisserie chicken but didn't like it much so I didn't eat as much--I considered the onions and peppers to be my 'dessert'

I am just grinning up a storm because I know that food will NOT be my downfall if I don't let it be!

I love GC because I can get a super meal completely LC while anyone with me can get what they prefer. I usually get five or six meats and a really excellent salad. What a treat!

Good for you! I like the buffet restaurants, too. Yesterday my family went out to a big Chinese buffet. Everybody was eating a bunch of fried stuff, rice, noodles, dumplings.

I started off with raw oysters and boiled shrimps, a chicken teriyaki skewer, and got some tuna and salmon sushi and peeled off the rice and just ate the fish with some wasabi and soy. I followed up with steamed flounder, korean chicken, kimchee and some dynamite spicy grilled eggplant.

I didn't even miss the carbs.

funny you should mention that cuz we almost went there this morning....for breakfast/brunch.....and i thought WAY too tough...while i could get my fill of the normal low carb breakfast, i would be TOOOOOO tempted by my all time fav of biscuts and gravy, waffles, frenchtoast....i gently talked us all outta it and ate my bacon and fried eggs with cheese for breakfast and then we all decided to go to outback for dinner.....STAKE with loaded broccoli! woohoo....another victory!! so GOOD for you too cuz I knoW its HARD to give up the corral!!

All that chocolate in my kids' easter basket looked divine, but I didn't touch a piece.

These victories should DEFINITELY be celebrated.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!

Someone once said that it takes 3 weeks to form a habit, and we have definitely formed the habit of eating right and taking care of ourselves!

The first time we went to a restaraunt and I managed to stay on plan despite the little voice in the back of my head saying "hey splurge a little, we don't go out to eat every day," was the best day ever. Hubby and I both managed, and we walked out of there feeling satisfied and not miserable, and with our chests out and heads high... It finally clicked that, sure I could have the occasional off plan meal, but that didn't mean every time we went out to eat, that I had to learn to live like this no matter where I go, and not be controlled by the carbs.

I won't even go near GC yet, I'm too scared (potato-aholic), so I can only imagine how AWESOME you must feel!!

Good for you!

I had GC today too and I'm really proud of myself too. I had a bunch of meat, salads and instead of the usual plateful of cookies topped with icecream or apple cobbler, i just had a small bowl of ice cream and one cookie for desert. i am still in the reducing calorie phase so I gave in a little, but i didnt have breads, potatoes, fries, pasta that usually stuff me and have me feeling like a caterpillar in a cocoon afterwards.

I think it's about $10 for adult-
beverage is extra (a dollar or two)

I had a buffet lunch today of double green beans and pork roast, green salad and unsweetened tea. I was proud of myself for skipping on the mac and cheese and potatoes and gravy and rolls!

Golden Coral is absolutely my favorite eating place, but we do not have one here. We do have several oriental buffets and visit them often. Absolutely love the wide choice of offerings to pick from. Everyone can get whatever they like and there are lots of low carb choices. At the local World Buffet the cost for my wife and I comes to only $14.25 plus tip. There we dine on boiled shrimp, fish, chicken, lots of salads, veggies, and those that are so inclined can pick their carbs and desserts. We visit Branson often and always go to GC. There I enjoy a meal of all kinds of Atkins approved delicacies without sacrificing the WOE. Yummmm!

GC is good for low carbers. I like that everyone can have what they want and it offers enough to keep a LC person easily fed well.

I do love their salad bar.

buffets worried me before also. Hubby and kiddo went to chinese buffets with in-laws many times WITHOUT me. I told them go and enjoy. Me, no willpower to get thru it

but NOW, I can go and pick very few things and be happy. first thing I do is make a giant salad and add tons of boiled shrimp. eat that and then pick one, 2 small bites of some other stuff and I am perfectly fine.

I thought I would go nuts the first time I did this when they had plates piled with chinese stuff. but I did well because the more I looked at that chinese food the more repulsive it became to me.

we all go thru this I think. see a big pile of fried foods, or sauce laden stuff and start to almost vomit seeing others eat it. that is what happens to me now. I can't even think of ever eating a plate like I used to handle.

I sure hope all my better eating habits stay with me I believe they will.

I absolutely love Chinese Buffets. Most have boiled shrimp and that is very expensive in places like Red Lobster. You get that and lots of other good stuff at Oriental Buffets for under ten bucks. If you stay away from the sweet stuff, rice, and noodles it is a cornucopia of LC delectables. We go to one a couple times a week and I am looking forward to going back for Sunday lunch.

Oriental foods are actually pretty good as compared to typical non-LC American choices. They don't have the huge quantities of breads/sweets that are found on American plates and if you wander the streets of cities in the Orient you won't see the incidence of obesity we see at our local WalMarts. At least that is what I saw in Thailand, and Japan. Apparently rice is healthier than Crispy Cremes.

We ate at GC tonight. Had a plate of salad with chunks of chicken and steak, along with the usual LC toppings. Also had steak, rotisserie chicken, wings, green beans, Brussels sprouts and broccoli, followed by sf Jello. Very satisfying and yummy!
