That sounds like a life saver, time saver for your whole family. Less clean up time for you too. I could really use something like that for my family.

I have a question! can someone explain how to actually use one of these deep friers? I mean, obviously, I know.. plug it in, turn it on... blah blah blah.. but what I am wondering is, they use SOO much oil (and if you buy a good oil, like peanut it's expensive).. so, what do you do with the oil? I remember from my youth that my mom used to use crisco (yuck!) and she would just keep it in the deep frier in the cupboard.. for months, I guess.. but is that safe to do? I'm thinking if you deep fry something, like chicken, you'd get chicken fat and particles in the oil.. and then if you let it sit in the cupboard, doesn't it get rancid? so, do you throw the oil out each time?

Also.. I have an old fry baby that I never use as it doesn't heat hot enough, and all my food gets soggy... my mom has one that has a lid on it... and it lowers the food automatically (don't know the brand.. ) and she doesn't like it either, because it only allows a tiny quanity of oil and food in it... so, what is a good, high capacity deep frier... one that you can control the temperature on..

Cindi ~
I am glad I have a birthday coming up, and I know what I want to buy myself! Nice to see one gadget be so darn versatile too!

scarletakb ~
I did a little research on oil and found that it can be stored 6-8 months and still be OK, though if it develops a rancid smell, it's time for new. To store the used oil, first strain out any impurities and put it in a container that leaves very little air space. Store it in a cool, dark spot.

One site also noted that fresh oil will often not brown food as well as oil that has been heated up a time or two. So, with that in mind, it was advised to add 1 TBL of old oil per 1 cup of new oil to help it reach it's optimum level and brown food better.

Hope that helps!

i bought an old school fry daddy a few months back. I always just leave my old grease in the fry daddy, isnt that what the lids for? I think it may say strain it, but i never do, and i do know it said oil for chicken or fish should be used only once, but everything else would be ok for more uses, but i think i always just use it regardless what ive cooked, i do get the big hunks and chunks out though. im curious about the fried green beans!
