Racing Heart

I've been having periods of racing heart beat for about a week now. I'm going to see my doc tomorrow and I sure hope he doesn't fixate on LC. Although I also hope he helps me pinpoint the cause.

Just make sure to inform him of any major recent changes in your lifestyle, be it food, exercise, or stress related issues. Hope you find out what's going on?

Wow, I do hope he/she can pinpoint the issue and get it taken care of. That's not a fun feeling at all. I'm no doctor (not even close), but have you ever had any panic or anxiety issues?

I've never had any panic issues before but the last few months have been really stressful, although strangely enough, that let up a few weeks ago. I take thyroid hormones and changed from Armour to Naturthroid about 2 months ago.

Oddly, the major change that coincides precisely with the racing heart is that I ate factory raised steak for dinner about 8 days in a row (long story as to why this happened), after over a year of eating only grass fed beef. This really strikes me as funny because I suspect my doc will say that the grass fed vs factory raised issue is meaningless. I suspect it probably is in the short run, in regards to a racing heart. Still, seems funny that this is the *only* change that coincides with my concern.

This exact thing happend to me on and off for like a month. Along with severe fatigue. But this happens more often than not with people on the forum. It really does. I just had blood work like eight weeks ago and know nothing is wrong with me. So I just chopped it up to my body adjusting to the changes with my diet. It seem more prevelant at night for some reason. My heart would beat so fast an so hard that it made me rock back and forth. But it didn't discourage me in the least. Good luck tomorrow at the dr. everything will be fine.

Yes, it seems much stronger at night. I can't fall asleep because the pounding of my heart wakes me up. Plus, I've been having severe fatigue too. I'm back on LC after a period of a few years of being off it. I don't recall any racing heart before but I think maybe I wasn't as strict before. So others have had the same experience but no one knows why? I didn't see any reference to it in the Atkins book.

I think I remember reading about this on the boards... there's something you can do to help with it, but I forget what. I'm sorry, I wish I could help more than that....

ETA: This sounds about right.

It may be potassium levels are low. BUT! see your doctor to make sure, especially since you are on meds. You may have to insist on getting the potassium level checked though.

I will try some potassium. I don't take any supplements. None. So that is a start. It has stopped. The rapid heart beat that is. Thank God. But I still feel tired sometimes. I just push thru it. I think the first time I did this I was taking supplements. Because that didn't happen.

I was going to suggest potassium (actually all minerals) as well... sometimes low blood pressure makes my heart race also.
Hope You Feel better Soon!!!

I'm going to start that today. I didn't know low blood pressure did that. I thought only high blood pressure did that. Thanks for the info.
