Just Curious? How much did you lose on Atkins your first month?

And maybe you have a month by month break down you can show!

icebear 03-05-2010 08:32 PM

since February 9, i have lost 12 pounds.

MarcyDarcy 03-05-2010 08:38 PM

I think I lost 10 pounds my first month. Compared to many, I'm a slow loser. My daughter lost 12 pounds in the first 10 days. She's 21 and I'm 53 though. Results vary quite a bit.

SecondTimeAround 03-05-2010 08:39 PM

I lost 9 pounds my first two weeks of Induction, then 11 over the next 6 weeks. I have lost an average of .69 pounds per week since then, or so ****** tells me. :)

ravenrose 03-05-2010 09:24 PM

momof4, I know you say "Just curious," but the thing is, we all get annoyed we don't lose faster. Seeing what other people lose really makes no difference. Your body will do what it does. Try to love it anyway, and stick to your plan. *hug*

carbbiedoll 03-06-2010 02:40 AM

I lost no weight in 6 weeks of induction but did lose 31/2 inches off my waist and ordered some new jeans from VS in a size 12(I had been a 14-16) and they were way too big and had to send them back. I don't get on the scale anymore:kicking:

ritaneon 03-06-2010 03:21 AM

I lost all mine on induction, the scales have stayed dormat these last 2 weeks
but I am still losing around my waist........I stopped getting on the scales and made me a new avatar this morning depicting my 125 goal rotfl.......Rita

harleychic 03-06-2010 04:04 AM

i lost 6 pounds the first month, going back to strict DANDR (with the Atkins Bars). I ditched the bars, switched to Atkins 72, and have lost 7.5 pounds since then with no cravings or hunger or anything. I love Atkins 72!!
Ravenrose is right, we all lose at our own pace so please don't get upset if others are losing faster than you are. Sometimes the more you have to lose the faster it goes. Just remember even if the scale isn't moving as fast as you would like, this is a very healthy way to eat so there is more going on than just weight loss.

Momto2boysNJ 03-06-2010 04:56 AM

Lizzy K 03-06-2010 05:14 AM

Eh, it's ok to be just curious. Just stay on plan no matter what the darn scale says. It works eventually. Really.

Anyway, I lost 13 in the 1st month (was really bloated from the holidays.) 11 was in the first 2 weeks, then 0 the 3rd week, 2 the 4th. The second month I lost 7. I am just into the 3rd month and haven't lost anymore yet, but honestly, I feel so good that it doesn't matter. I'm just sticking with my ways of eating better and working out. That's how it works, right?

Good luck to you! GO get it!

clackley 03-06-2010 05:28 AM

I think it is interesting to see how people did in the first month. It would also be great to know how much they have to lose along with how old they are...just more of a complete snapshot....
I lost 7.5 in the first month. I have 90 lbs. to lose and and am 54 yrs. old. I did have success with Atkins in 2000 also (Momto2boysNJ were you on the board then? - I was a 'chatter') and lost a bit faster then.

Yep yep!!!!!!!

I do not think you can really compare weightloss journeys -- also I think it matters, at the end of the journey, where you are in relation to normal (top - 25) bmi .. my goal weight is at 22.7-23.6 bmi, I started at 42 bmi. You can calculate bmi at the CDC website here: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/ass...alculator.html

me, started at age 38:

induction: 6 lbs
first month total: 10 lbs
by 6 months: 60 lbs
by 1 year: 90 lbs

So after one year I was at 146 or 25.9 bmi, where 141 is normal bmi of 25 ... If people looked at me on the street, they would say i looked great and normal, but for me, I needed to lose the extra weight to feel happy in a bathing suit, etc.

So, the last 18 lbs took two years due to binge eating issues, and the inevitable weightloss slowdown ... but considering I was trying to get below top healthy bmi, that makes sense (well not the binge eating part, lol!!)

Be careful making comparisons .. just stay the course and you will get there too!!!!!!!!

AngieCakes 03-06-2010 05:33 AM

I'm posting so I can check my sig LOL

Okay, 16.5 pounds in the first month, 6.5 in the second.
I'm 5'4.

LouieLouie2007 03-06-2010 05:39 AM

In the first 6 weeks, I lost 36 lbs. It took me almost a year to lose another 20. I am still 30+ away from goal. But I have toconsider I had a child in between then and now and since then, losing has been like pulling teeth. :( My "baby" just turned 5.

The plus side is that I am a 12 now at only 6 lbs less than my pre pregnancy weight of 192. At that weight last time I was a 16w

poopsie2223 03-06-2010 06:27 AM

10-12 pounds. I "only" lost 6 or 7 pounds on first two weeks of induction but I've been losing at a nice steady rate of a teensy bit over 2 pounds a week since January 3.

HerBoudoir 03-06-2010 07:13 AM

Maybe 5 lbs the first month? I lose about 3 lbs a month on average, but I've always been a slow loser.

crystalgriffon 03-06-2010 07:16 AM

I think I lost five pounds in the first month :) I can't remember what I lost on induction alone (I don't think I weighed myself because I wanted to see a big difference) lol

JustCallMeAmy 03-06-2010 07:18 AM

i lost 25lbs my first month. HOWEVER, i was also about 150lbs overweight, so it's all relative!

eta: i also don't do atkins per se. i've read atkins & protein power and love them both and just take the knowledge i got from the great dr's and use them in my everyday life/eating. not recommending this for anyone or not recommending it, just stating the facts so there is no confusion!

Kiley2801 03-06-2010 07:25 AM

About 7 pounds.

Awesome. That's what I would call a certified non-scale victory!

:)

DKells 03-06-2010 07:39 AM

I'm 21 and 5'7.
I lost 14lbs the first two weeks, 21lbs in total for the whole month.
I've lost a further 7lbs so far in my second month.

A lot. lol.

Was carrying my maximum fluid retention (7 pounds). Lost 15 first month.
59 in eleven months. I was 60 years old.

MNLisaB 03-06-2010 07:47 AM

About 8 lbs, wish I had kept a chart or record month by month, it took me a good 2 yrs to take off 70 lbs, so something worked!

I lost slower in the cold winter months and way faster May- October, even thought my activity level was the same. Yup, a turtle for sure, part of that is age and hormone level...;)

LeahGraceG 03-06-2010 08:34 AM

I lost 4 in the first month -- slow, but I don't have much to lose. My weight bounces around every time I lose -- usually right after dropping a pound, I bounce up 2 and have to work back down via the next mini-whoosh.

julietcc 03-06-2010 08:48 AM

I just did an Atkins restart. I had been off for a few months. I went from 152 to 142 in 3 weeks! I wasn't expecting that

When I started lasted year, I went from 162 to 152 in one month. Unfortunately I just maintained in between instead of staying on Atkins. I'm ready to go all the way and make this my way of life. I also go to the gym 3-4 times per week.

batlou 03-06-2010 09:08 AM

I found a grid a made that included the first 27 weeks of my diet. Looks like about 12 pounds in the first month, 10 of those coming in the first 2 weeks.

fireflyfaster 03-06-2010 09:09 AM

I lost 20 the first month nine years ago, and 20 in a month and a day this time around, at 43.

Second month, 8 pounds, third month, 13, then back to about 8 per month until I got to 60 pounds at around six months.

Since then, losses about half -- 4 pounds a month or so, as I get close to goal. It only took six-something months to get to 60, but it will have taken about the same to get from 60 to 84.

Everyone is so different, keep up your healthy habits.

I'm hypothyroid, and in my mid-40s, but our heights and starting weights are similar.

Start: 230
Month 1: 222
Month 2: 217
Month 3: 217
Month 4: 216
Month 5: 214
...and I have been so careful!

My weight loss is frustratingly slow, but here is what is most important:
Triglycerides changed from 180 to 65,
HDL changed from 50 to 70.

Woo-hoo!
hugely decreased heart-disease risk!

momof4 03-06-2010 09:39 AM

Thanks for the responses! the perserverance is very encouraging! I so far have lost 10.5 in 9 days. I dont expect to contine to lose 1 pound per day average. Again Thanks! and Keep up the great work!

afuentes 03-06-2010 09:42 AM

I lost 7-8lbs in the first two weeks but I can't remember what the rest of the month was.

JK130 03-06-2010 10:54 AM

I'm 58 and started "dieting" last July. I was ill, newly diagnosed with diabetes and some other stuff and had a small surgery at the end of June 2009. It was the perfect time to make some big changes in my way of living. At that time my size 24/26 W clothing was tight. Now I am wearing mostly size 12 regular. If you are diabetic you will recognize how great it is to start the day with a 90s BS rather than a 200s, and how important it is, and how much attention it takes to get/keep those numbers in a good range forever.

"Weight Loss" "Average Fasting Blood Sugar"
June 2009 167 bs
July 29.8 lbs 127 bs
August 11.6 lbs 114 bs
September 10.4 lbs 110 bs
October 8.6 lbs 109 bs
November 10 lbs 111 bs
December 9.4 lbs 100 bs
January 2010 10 lbs 105 bs
February 5 lbs 97 bs
March 3.2 lbs so far 97 bs

Yes, we are all different but we do have a lot in common as we make deliberate steps towards healthier living. I too am curious about the journeys of others. Especially when I get discouraged I like to read about how others have overcome (or not) various issues with diet or exercise. I'm too lazy to try the recipes on LCF but like reading them.

Good luck to you all!
