Question re: TOM and whooshes for the ladies
For you ladies who get a whoosh around your TOM...does it come before, during or after TOM? Just curious...because I'm down 6 this week and TOM just started...It would be great to get a nice big whoosh when TOM is over!

Well...I can't recall any BIG whooshes....but for me, it's sometimes a week after TOM that my body gives up the water weight. It's hard to get an accurate number until then.

Umm, I'm still figuring this out as I went back on the pill in December 'cause LCing didn't return my cycles this time (I have PCOS). Seems I had my TOM wosh during this time. Might be a YMMV (your millage may vary) issue. I know some have reported water retention at ovulation as well as TOM

I used to have a "whooshability window" that opened about 5 days after TOM and closed about 5 days before. The last several months it's been down to a "whooshability week" that usually starts later after TOM.
I do notice some water retention around ovulation. |

Well, I've only been on LC for 2 months so far (this time around), and I dropped 6 pounds the first month (January), then 2 more the first couple weeks of Feb. The second half of Feb. I just went up and down the same 2 lbs or so. These two weeks coincided with the week before and of TOM. TOM is done, and I've dropped another 2. We'll see if the pattern continues to play out. But I suspect it won't, and like Firefly, I'll have really only a 2 week window each month I can really lose poundage.

Do you know your CCLL?

Yes, all my big whooshes were during my TOM which was mind blowing since on slightly higher carb (20-30) I would see a 5# gain every month like clock work that would vanish at the end of my cycle.

I would gain before...then lose what I gained plus some after
. Hoping that trend continues although no more TOM (ablation) hormones that control it are still present. |

I get bloated and try to stay away from the scale during this time. When it passes, I weigh and I usually weigh the same. I am past caring about whooshes, but I am in maintenance, I just don't want to see a gain!

The week before I am happy to stay the same and not gain. This past week, for example, I am thrilled to see the scale staying at 200 where it was 1 week ago. I *feel* bloated and have eaten everything in my house the last few days. I'm hoping for a little whoosh, which has been happening within a week from the start of TOM. Actually, my biggest losses have been in the first 2 weeks of my cycle. (2-4 pounds/week) Then the 3rd week usually 1. 0 the last week before TOM - which is fine by me. Pre-LC days, I would easily gain 5 of water weight around this time. I wish it would do something for my cravings though...

I'm glad to hear someone else mention this...that's something I've started noticing over the past few months and I wondered if it was common. It really sucks though because I'm pretty much up and down with the same couple of pounds during that two week window (ovulation-TOM).

Thanks for the input! So it's still hopeful that I'll see a big number next Tues. when I weight myself again since TOM should be gone. I was just curious because this is my 1st week of induction and had a 6# loss this week and TOM just got here. I thought it would be weird to have a TOM loss before TOM got here so perhaps this 6# loss is legit. Now I just need to stay off the scale till Tuesday...I'm such a scale junkie, it's pathetic!
