olive garden salad
Anyone know the carb count minus croutons of olive garden salad?
Im going to olive garden tonight and by looking at the nutritional information All I can really have is the Grilled salmon at 5 carbs.. and the steak .. the rest of the stuff ,even the chicken is loaded with carbs due to the sauces. So I was curious of the carb count in the salad. |

Their house dressing is 1g carbs per tablespoon (not bad) so I'd guess if you ate the whole bowl of salad without the croutons, it would be about 15g lol(and yes, I can live on their salads
). |

I found this, but I have never tried it. Quote:
Maybe if you make it at home you can lower the carb count by replacing corn syrup with SF simple syrup or splenda? I love their salad too. I used to make it (with the dressing I bought at the store) It is one of the very very few Italian dressings I like. |

I don't even remember it being sweet, just sour. Maybe you could skip the sweeteners altogether. I plan to try it. Oh, and the banana peppers? Nom! |

Last time I bought a bottle of their dressing was a while ago, but I seem to recall that it's 3 grams of carb per 2 Tablespoon serving. So not the best, but not the worst. It was something like 4 bucks for a smallish bottle, but it's easy to replicate the rest of the salad at home.
In a perfect world, I could get some Olive Garden salad with a side of Macaroni Grill meatballs. Mmmmm. |

I'm going to make this dressing tonight. I'll report back with my results. Just omitting the corn syrup and adding some liquid sweet n low.

The last time I went to Olive Garden the waitress asked why I didn't want salad and I told her I didn't like the dressing. She asked what kind I did like and the next thing I knew she had a salad with a side of ranch and no croutons in front of me.

This is off the Olive Garden web site.
What is the nutritional content of your salad dressing? Each two (2) tablespoon serving contains the following: 80 calories; 70 calories from fat; fat 8 grams; saturated fat 1 gram; cholesterol 5 mg; sodium 510 mg; carbohydrates 2 grams; protein 0 gram. |

It's been so long since I had an Olive Garden salad, I really can't remember for sure if it taste exactly like this, but oh man, this dressing is amazing. I haven't been able to find any dressing I like anymore, ranch included. This one right here is a winner. You don't need but a few drops and toss the salad to coat and you are good to go. My salad was fresh and crisp and the dressing was just enough to give it a little extra something. Absolutely amazing. I highly think you should try it. And use fresh lemon juice too, not the bottled stuff. I used fresh because I couldn't find bottled, and it was so good. You could taste the lemon in the dressing just a little. |

I never really thought of it as a pure V&O base, I think it is thicker, I always kind of suspected the thickener was Mayo. Glad to hear it was good!
