Cost-co/Sam's Club

So what are your favorite low-carb purchases from warehouse stores like Cost-co or Sam's Club? Just curious because the hubs is on his way there now!

Larry, Cost-co carries low carb tortillas? What aisle would they be in? I've never seen them there before...but then again I haven't been looking for them lately either.

OMG, its the meat.

I get the chicken thighs ($1.02 a pound), the boneless pork ribs ($10.49 for six HUGE ribs), and the angus filets ($23+) for four of the most delectable steaks ANYWHERE!!!

Joy,

I do get my Chicken/Beef stock from there. The Pacific Heights stuff is organic and cheaper than the stuff at the regular store.

Meats - prices are good anyway, especially case prices, and when you can nab markdowns, it's great. Cheeses, canned tuna, nuts, EVOO, seasonings. Cream, butter, eggs, sour cream. Fresh broccoli, mushrooms.

All Costcos carry different lines of merchandise, especially when it comes to foods, so you won't necessarily find the same stuff as someone else in another area will find.

Also, don't fall in love with anything. If somebody else comes along with something cheaper, your favorite product will be GONE! They are very, very hard bargainers! (DH has been manufacturing food products for 30 years, and getting a product in at Costco is a mixed blessing.)

I am thinking they go by popularity too.... I am fearful that they will replace my beloved premier protein shake (cheap and low carb and tastes good) with not as low carb, not quite as cheap muscle milk

Last time I was there, I had to scrounge to find two of my cases of premier, whilst 60 stacks of muscle milk light flooded the section. booo!

meat, meat, meat, eggs, cheese, bottled water, batteries, milk, butter, bacon, pretty much all the stuff that you get small quantities of for too high prices at the regular store.
Oh, and at Sam's, they have large bottles of Hidden Valley Ranch mix for like $3!

Thanks Everyone!

We usually get the Whole frozen green beans, Stir-Fry Vegetables, Frozen blueberries, strawberries, and cherry trio, Turkey Chubs (1# tubes of lean ground turkey), fresh cut-up broccoli, sugar snap peas, and frozen Tilapia fillets.

The hubs just found a new favorite of mine...rindless brie...OMG...I'm in heaven. It's sliced and separated by paper so it's just like any other sandwich cheese you would get.

Oh my, adding to the fine responses, if you have a deep freeze and handy at trimming beef, the "full slabs" of Angus (when marked) beef is superbly priced at Costco and as expected, extremely tasty.

For example, a full Sirloin is mid $2/lb. in 20lb. sections, a slab of NY steak is in the lower $4/lb in 8-12 lb. slabs. Boneless Prime Rib is just a few cents more /lb. too!!! I just use zip lock bags for 1.25 inch cut steaks frozen individually. As to the prime rib, I just cut off half for a normal meal and "wet age" the remainder for consumption 7 to 14 days later.

Eggs, Cheese, Pre-Cooked Bacon, Chicken Breast, Baby Greens (fav), frozen vegi's (been hooked on the Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots and Squash of late), Mini Peppers and butter.

I drive right by it on my way to and from work so it's not unusual for me to stop in 2 or 3 times in a week.

And on Friday's and Saturday, there's a "seafood" roadshow at many locations allowing you to pick from a huge pile for the larger ones with the "big" knuckles!!!

A month ago, on a Monday morning, they actually opened a new case and sorted through them for 10 of the nicest legs I've seen in quite awhile..........

I shop at Sam's but find that between the several local grocery stores in my area, they usually have things on sale for less than Sam's. I'm going there today though and blue cheese, fresh spinach, water, wine, eggs and butter are on my list. I'm still learning what I eat lots of on LC. Eggs and butter are a definate and no one has them on sale right now. I always get EVOO, pupperonis (for the dog), batteries and a few other things there.

Sam's: Atkins bars, EAS shakes

Cosco: Salmon burgers

Those are specific to the store. Other things we buy from either are wings, meats, cheeses, bacon bits, and vegetables.

I tried those with really high hopes...blech. I am not a picky eater and love seafood as well but they went straight to the trash.
