How much cheese do you eat in a day?

Do you stick to the recommended 3-4 oz that Atkins recommends or do you eat as much as you like as long as your carbs stay in check?

Hi holladee…
Normally 4-6oz probably, as high as 8oz some days...just depends on what we are fixing. Never make a salad without it, or eggs, and I add it to my tuna salads and broccoli salads too...

Some of my Lasag˝a uses as many as 4 cheese in three layers, and I don't skimp.

String cheese is one of my go-to foods when I'm hungry and munchy between meals...I eat at least 3 of them a day.

It just depends on the day. I might go days without having any at all and then the next week, have way more than I should have for a couple days.

I ate about 7 yesterday (including cream cheese)! I'm keeping it much more in check today, but I'm already at 3.5 and still need to eat dinner. Not that I HAVE to eat cheese for dinner, but I know I'll want to. Yesterday, I ate so many calories. I know we're not supposed to count but I was curious and added it up at the end of the day. YIKES. I ate 21 carbs so I did pretty good in that respect.

Yesterday was day one for me....I wasn't hungry between meals really. I just think I was kind of trying to fill the "void" that carbs usually does. I felt a little light headed and kept eating to make it go away.

Today has been a much better day.

Thanks all.

On induction, I did it by the book and even on OWL, and Maintenance I regularly eat about 4 oz cheese a day. I am cheese-crazy!!! but I feel it is important to vary your protein sources -- just in general. I am up the carb ladder and eat a lot of nuts, cheese, eggs, and tofu/soy protein. And of course, if you eat meat there are many other Atkins-approved protein sources.

I do a lot of dairy, but I know that overdoing it can also constipate you .... If you find you are eating too much cheese, it may be time to explore some other proteins .. maybe some new recipes, etc.

Larry.... Im SURE that much chese per day works for YOU but ..um...most MEN (in my opinion) can eat far MORE on Lowcarb than women, and still lose.

Im sure thats true for every diet out there, but I just want to be sure people (newbies mainly) dont get the idea that they can eat unlimited or ALOT of cheese, because just like everything it 'can stall ya'.

ditto. Many days I have NONE (I just don't think about it) other days I have probably too much... but even then nothing extreme... maybe 2oz CC in lc pancakes, then a slice with lunch, and a couple of ounces at dinner to... which would be 5 oz. I love cheese, but I don't obsess over it like I did with potatoes and breads before LC.

Sometimes TOO much! I have to really be careful with the cheese.

Eliminating it is what helped me shed 15 since Thanksbinging. Now I have 3-4oz a day TOPS! And sometimes that is very difficult because it is just so darned good!

I try to stay at 4 oz, but lately cheese is such a tasty snack I know I've been getting more. I am ok with having over the 4 oz if I am really drinking water, but without the liquids I can not over due it on the cheese.

Most days, about 2 oz or so. If it's an "I need pizza!" kind of day, I'll make cauli-cheese crust pizza and then I'm way over 4 oz LOL But that's an occasional treat.

My current fave is brie, found some that comes in a log shape which is great to slice off and munch. Love the kind with mushrooms too!

I usually have an ounce of cream cheese at lunch and maybe an ounce or two of cheddar a couple of times a week. Sometimes I'll make a casserole that will include shredded cheese or a pizza. But on average, it's probably four ounces or less per day.

I stick to 3oz usually (and don't often even get that much.) And I portion control carefully. If I buy a block of hard cheese I chop it up into 1oz chunks (well 25grams technically.) So I know exactly how much I get when I go grab a piece for a snack or to grate on my eggs or whatever.

Depends on the day, and what I make. Yesterday I only had 2.5 oz, but I'm sure I go way over that on other days. I have 2oz cream cheese every morning in my egg cream, but I love those so its fine for me. It doesn't seem to be a problem, so far

If I'd been listing 'things I eat on Atkins' I would have put cheese high on the list - but funnily enough, now you ask, I've realised I don't really eat much of it - maybe a two/three ounces every other day, as a snack, and perhaps some in a sauce for cauliflower once a week. I like a piece of Emmenthal, cut with a knife that's just been used to smoosh garlic
