Ihop??

The family is going to breakfast at Ihop tommorow morning for a valentines day breakfast. So of course plenty of omeletes.
However I hear that they put pancake batter in their omelettes now? Is this correct? What can I order that is actually low carb???

Thanks guys!!!!!!!

Jannybunny 02-13-2010 02:49 PM

Yes they do although I think you can request it without. Not sure

The one time I went, I ordered off the sides menu. I had fried eggs and bacon. Won't be going back

kpk 02-13-2010 02:51 PM

Yep. Just go for the dried eggs. Real food.

MarcyDarcy 02-13-2010 03:07 PM

Try looking at their menu online. Maybe they serve regular food even if it's morning.

I mean Fried eggs. :rofl::rofl:

micheleredit 02-13-2010 03:09 PM

Wowo that is sooo sad. NO real omelettes with Cheese and bacon. Can you really request no pancake syrup stuff in it??

micheleredit 02-13-2010 03:12 PM

Hmmm I see egg substitute omelettes under the "healthy section" with fresh fruit. Wonder if thats any better??

I guess you could request it but they may not do it. The on-line menu states that the omelets are made "with a splash" of pancake batter. That's why I just stuck to fried eggs and bacon because I didn't want to take the risk that they would do it anyway even if I requested it

dartstar1 02-13-2010 03:26 PM

THey do but I Ate them every day for acouple of months I called it the beef fajita omlette diet
and I lost 30 lbs
they put the equivilent of 6 pancakes in 5 gallons of eggs if they aren't busy U can ask for the eggs tobe fresh scrambled but if they are packed they might not

they don't add batterr to the egg sub

catne 02-13-2010 03:32 PM

we had fried eggs, plus side of bacon & side of sausage last time we went. The sausage may have had low carbs in it ( a lot of sausage does) but we figured it was low enough. You may have some luck getting a special-made eggs without pancake batter if you ask if they can make gluten-free scrambled eggs. Just tell them you can't eat flour, you'll react badly to it (which you will...you'll go out of ketosis and turn into a carb monster, right>:hyst::eek:)

LJB 02-13-2010 03:33 PM

I would order 3 over easy eggs, and double bacon.

When I managed forIHOP the sausage patties we use Jones very good quality no carbs

micheleredit 02-13-2010 04:17 PM

Mmmm sausage patties!! You guys are awesome thanks!!!!!!

kristina 02-13-2010 04:28 PM

Steak? and eggs?

We went to Shari's the other day.

I got a Mushroom Swiss Hamburger with onions lettuce and pickles, without the bun.

Yummm!!!

They also had different steaks I could have ordered.

I've been to Denny's and can't ever really find "real" meat...unless they've changed now.

I don't usually go to iHop so I don't know what they have :dunno:

i always just order my omelettes "wheat free" & tell them i can't have pancake batter & it's never been a problem. you can tell if they did it or not because the omelettes without the pancake batter won't be as fluffy...the egg part will be thinner. also, they've always let me sub extra bacon or sausage for the pancakes. i love ihop!

Alot of IHOPS are franchise and there are owners who will not allow sub especially meat that cost 15 cents per slice of bacon to a pancake at 6 cents
One Owner I worked for (they owned about 20 + IHOPS) wooudn't even let someone sub toast for pancakes
and for the person who asked about Dennys meat I managed for them for years also and their quality was nothing compared to IHOP

SugarFreeSheila 02-13-2010 07:10 PM

I had an omelet there this morning. Just ask for "real eggs." :)

Ditto

Tyl 02-13-2010 08:18 PM

you can get an omlette...just tell them no pancake batter and use fresh eggs. they do this for me all the time. Not as fluffy...but the chicken fajita omlette is fab!

catholicmama 02-13-2010 08:20 PM

Wow that would be a very big tester LOL. I would be so tempted LOL. I don't know about the omlett thing but I would ask them, and if they say yes then explain to them that you are low carbing and see if they can make one without it.

dartstar1 02-14-2010 05:28 AM

Lets put it this way , if there is not sometype marker on your om;lette such as frill pick
THe servers jkust GRAP when food comes up in the pass and there could be 7 bacon cheese (ex) omlettes so the thing is if you are on a 20 carb or higher the amount of bvatter in that omlette would be less than 1 tsp of the batter and the batter is also made with eggs and water

MichelleM 02-14-2010 05:52 AM

ummm .. darstart..whats a 'frill pick'??

One of those toothpicks with the colored shredded celophane tops
like what they hold club sandwiches together with

Rena_G 02-14-2010 11:10 AM

I always ask that they don't use pancake mix in mine. I just tell them I am gluten intollerant and they are ok with it. Believe me I would be sick within an hour if they did mix it up.

aubie71 02-14-2010 05:04 PM

I have a question. Is 80-100 grams of carbs spread out in 5 gallons of egg (that is what I heard the addition is) really that big of a deal?

If it is, I'm afraid I've got the wrong idea of low carb.

MarcyDarcy 02-14-2010 05:12 PM

First, I don't know how many eggs there are per gallon. I just don't want wheat, sugar or possibly some other ingredients to be in it, no matter how little. I'm not, so much, but some folks are highly intolerant of these ingredients. But I'd certainly want to know it's there before I consume it.

skoolmarm729 02-14-2010 05:30 PM

Am I the ONLY one who didn't know about this?!?! The crazy thing is I never eat here... until Saturday morning- BEFORE I read this thread of course! And what did I order because I am committed to staying on plan??? A freakin' omlette!! I am sooo not happy right now!

If you are wheat intollerant, yes it is a big deal!!

Plus if you are tracking your carbs, wouldn't you want to know:confused:
