fat free cool whip is a "healthy food"

didn't you know?

urgh. i don't even know why i bother anymore. another board i belong to was having a discussion about "healthy snacks" and fat free cool whip is one of them apparently. i looked up the ingredient list and is that even allowed to be sold as food?!

i tried to add my insight into the discussion, how i prefer to eat *real food* and not things that come in a container with ingredient lists a mile long, but of course i had snide remarks made to me. this happens all the time on this particular board and always from the same people trying to lose the same weight "their way", while completely discounting mine when i'm one of the few people who have been successful without surgery. hmmmm....

low carb really gets absolutely ZERO respect.

You know what's funny? There are laws prohibiting these type of edible food-type products from being sold under an actual food name. That's why Froot Loops are spelled that way. Or Cheez Whiz.

No where on a container of cool whip does it mention food! It's all whipped topping this and non-dairy that. Very bizarre.

Actually, I remember a substitute teacher I had in the 8th grade (um, well over 20 years ago) telling us that Cool Whip was an entirely artificial product based on petroleum. He was technically off base, but definitely in the ball park. We scoffed at him then, but he was ahead of the curve!

cool whip seriously grosses me out. It also kinda scares me how low fat people are not happy until the "food" that they eat is completely void of fat and nutrition. They don't even care whats in it as long as its fat free.

Someone needs to explain rounding to the FF'ers as the ingredients actually say there is fat in this!!! (transfats to boot)

my point exactly. and this is healthier for you than whipping up some real cream because??? oh right, because cream contains fat.

in NO way are those ingredients edible. well, the water is

meg, do you own a hand blender, regular benchtop blender or even a whisk? All these tools will whip heavy whipping cream, just the whisk will take a bit longer (and burn more calories ). I like to add cocoa (or cacao when I can afford it) powder and some sweetener - vola LC chocolate mouse .

New York Meg, put your bowl and whisk in the freezer first and it will whip up much quicker. I will use my magic bullet for it but actually prefer to do it by hand, just find it relaxing.

The polysorbates and the sorbitan monostearate are emulsifiers. They keep a mixture of oil and water together. They are both approved food additives found in numerous processed foods. The thing that worries me is seeing Sodium Hydroxide in here! Also known as lye...a very caustic base chemical. It's the stuff that drain cleaner is made out of.

They tell you that americans need to lose weight, that we are the fattest people in the world. Obesity is the reason for all kinds pains and illness. So they encourage people to eat the Fake, artificial, plastic crab that causes cancer just the same. Go Atkins I will take my real food, and be happy all the same.

And look at her now....that did so much good for her, didn't it?

Fat Free Cool Whip is so nasty. Anything fat free is pretty gross to me-salad dressings, mayo, cheese, ice cream

So I guess it's still healthy for you when you leave it set out of a day or 2 & it still looks like you just placed it there. LOL

The last time I was sick & the dishes didn't get done it was like wow. This looks the same as it did the other day. That is just wrong.
