What do you take to work for snacks?
 
I like to vary snacks to not get bored, to not exceed the limits of certain foods and to stay on plan. Sometimes its nuts and sometimes it's other items. What do you take?

Guacamole & jicama chips!

ETA...
I also make a chocolate fluff that I dip jicama chips in for a sweet snacK
8 oz cream cheese
1 c heavy whipping cream
1/4 C cocoa powder
6 - 8 packets splenda
2tsp vanilla extract
Blend all together and chill.

I don't work outside the home but have taken these items with me on road trips.

Cottage cheese with frozen blueberries
celery and cream cheese or peanut butter
pepperoni chips
cheese cubes and olives
cut up veggies and dip
sf jello
Greek yogurt
A small piece of Lindt 85% chocolate
pickles
Roasted Green beans from the night before.

i saw a recipe on here for em, roast em for like an hour at 350 degrees for maybe 400? i forget.. with some salt and oil.

Is the chicken left over from dinner the night before or do you make it specifically planned for snacks?

Two cups frozen green beans...three ( or more:blush:) tablespoons olive oil. Roast at 350 for 45-60 minutes....Stir occasionally so everything gets evenly coated with oil and evenly browned.

When they come out of the oven, I sprinkle with sea salt, pepper and garlic powder. You can dip them in LC ketchup like french fries.

Here you go:
All I do is take 1 can (big blue) canned crab (claw meat) and mix it with 3 eggs and about a cup of crushed pork rinds and about two tablespoons of grated canister style (Kraft's) Parmesan cheese.

You can Kick it up using the following ingredients: Tweaking Emeril's recipe"

2 tablespoons chopped green onions or scallions
1 tablespoon drained and finely chopped capers
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley leaves
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon minced fresh tarragon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne

In a bowl, fold together the ingredients. Adjust the seasoning, to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve, giving the sauce 1 hour to stand before serving for the flavors to blend. (Note: If using homemade mayonnaise, the tartar sauce must be refrigerated and used within 24 hours.)

Yield: about 1 1/4 cups

Anyway-- that's how I do it.

I'm not much of a snacker, if I really want something to keep me busy just lazily sitting around on the weekend or something when others are snacking, pumpkin seeds in the shell are good for that.

This is a great list - I always forget about pickles.

I don't know if you like the little cans of vienna sausage (I do :love:) but there is a chicken one that is 0 Carbs.

Also I am making some of Cleo's chips this weekend and popping them in the dehydrator to make them extra crispy.

I just came up with this idea, and haven't gotten to see how it works....
I'm going to try putting a little puddle of salad dressing in the bottom of a cup with a lid, and then filling it with salad. Hopefully the dressing won't wilt all the lettuce that way. Then I hope I can pop it open and eat with a fork.

hb eggs, sliced ahead of time(so I can keep typing while I snack!);
3-4 cubes of cheese (2 types of cheese - mozzarella & old);
10 black Olives

I work 12 hour shifts so I usually take a meal and then a small container full of snacks. I'm not as hungry since I started LCing so I usually don't eat it all, but it's not unusual for it to include hardboiled eggs, almonds (I like them roasted with sea salt), a small ziplock with pepperoni and cheese cubes, cold chicken, pumpkin seeds, etc.
I usually cook a bag of chicken breasts/tenders/whatever at the start of the week and keep them in the fridge for quick snacks and adding to salads. Ditto the hardboiled eggs.

A warm mug of broth or soup (or even stew, depending on how hearty of a snack you want!) if you have a microwave around is good in this weather.

As an alternative to deli meat/cheese rollups, you can do a slice of ham rolled around some egg salad.

This is too expensive for me, but if you look in the sushi section and buy those rice paper rolls with lettuce, advocado, cucumber, sometimes chicken or shrimp... you can just peel back the rice paper and dip and eat as you go. You can also make your own lettuce roll ups.

Shrimp cocktail dipped in mustard/mayo dip or make-your-own lowcarb cocktail sauce.

Oh boy snacks!

Pepperoni's

Babybel wax covered cheese

Laughing cow cheese

Hard boiled eggs

Celery stuffed with Egg salad

Celery stuffed with Cream cheese, green olive and a tiny bit splenda

a small tub of tuna salad which I dip Bell pepper "chips" (just raw cut up peppers)

Rolled up salami/provolone

I ALWAYS carry Tea bags...sometimes I really don't need a snack and Hot tea satisfies me.

Did anyone ever notice the snacky type foods are so sodium filled? It sucks because I retain water so badly.

Besides the above suggestions, I have been bringing protein powder bars to work (that I make). I made a new batch yesterday and they taste like brownies and vanilla cake! (2 diff batches.)

2 eggs
3 scoops whey protein powder (vanilla)
1 stick butter
1/2 cup sweetener (I use liquid sweet n low)

Melt butter, add eggs, whey protein powder and sweetener. Mix well and put in a 6x6 baking dish. Cook on 325 for about 15-20 minutes. Makes 9 servings. Each serving has about 1g carb per piece, depending on the whey protein powder you use.

For the chocolate:
2 eggs
2.5 scoops whey protein powder
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 stick butter
1/2 cup sweetener

I'm about to have some with coffee!
