How do you figure that tastes like brownies? Do you add cocoa on one batch? Can you get whey powder at walmart?

I edited to add the chocolate recipe. Yes I got my whey protein powder at walmart, body fortress brand.

Lol. No, I edited because I read and saw that people would think I was nuts. It taste like brownies more after it cools. I didn't cook mine until they were hard, the bottom was a little moist, so it gave it a cake like consistency.

How much is the stick of butter, I can only buy my in 1 pound packages? I have strawberry banana whey powder I think I will try that. They sound good do you ever add any nuts to it?

1 stick of butter is 1/2 cup or 4oz. So it would be 1/4th of your 1lb block.

This is a recipe I just made up last week and have only made 3 batches. The first batch I only used 1 egg and they came out chewy and not fluffy at all, still good. The second batch all I did was add 1 more egg and they were fluffy. I haven't added any nuts to it, but that sounds like a great idea! This is really just a method I've been messing with so you could do it however you want. If you don't like the texture, just experiment until you find one you like.

I was really trying to find some kind of snack/sweet type deal that didn't involve cream cheese because it seems like all the recipes have cream cheese and I can't eat it and lose.

So far my main one has been 3 hard boiled eggs for snacks before and after lunch. I try to keep eating small bits all day to keep my metabolism going. Now that I'm 2 weeks in though I'm going to get some Atkins shakes over at Wallyworld and supplement the eggs (or at least 1 of them) with those.

I love the other ideas though, now that I'm past induction (finally!) I'm going to look into nuts and chipped veggies.

Ms. Woods, your protein bars sound great. I am gonna try these today!

2 questions : Is there a recipe for jicama chips (othe than eating them raw)?
Is there a recipe for homemade baked chicken tenders?
Thanks!!

Thanks for the info. It is good to have another alternative for a healthy snack. I guess I will have to get some vanilla whey powder as you can have more variety.

Ok, I'm warning ya, I have been lc'in it for 7 months and haven't had 1 cheat, so no pastry has passed my lips, so I may have made this up in my head Don't burn me at the stake if I'm wrong Lol. Just be sure you don't overcook it. Mine is actually a little batter like on the bottom, but after it sits in the fridge, it sets up as well.

I have pictures but I have to call sprint and have them fix my picture mail before I can send them to myself

When I did snack at work, it was usually something like cheese sticks or deli meat. Now I eat breakfast and lunch with no snacks between (while working). I do usually have a snack at home in the evening after dinner.

I am making the protein bars now. The chocolate batter tastes just like chocolate cake mix! I like things a bit sweeter so I did add 2 pkts. of stevia. Also added a little vanilla and butter flavoring to the vanilla batter. In the oven now, I can hardly wait!

Now I am wondering what adjustments can be made to make these peanut butter?
The carb count will be higher for sure. I tried making the peanut butter cookies that are just peanut butter, an egg, and sweetener, and they tasted good but fell completely apart.

Lol. Well, I estimated the sweetener, so it's good you add it to your liking. I added in about 2 tsp of liquid sweet and low so I estimated that was bout half a cup of granular sweetener. I'm very sensitive to sweet also so it takes less. Just make sure you don't overcook it! Lemme know what ya think.

I am making a peanut butter version now. I have made them all in a loaf pan so I ended up with about 12 bars. These are good and will be very portable. Thanks for inventing this recipe!!

Yes, ms Woods...I have notices and I too can be a sponge when sodium and water are combined. ugh.

I am going to try your bars. I bet the chocolate with a few almonds crushed would be great, when I move onto nuts.

oh I forgot to say that I baked them for 20 min. which was too long. They are good but but I think I will try 15 min. next time for a more chewy texture. Yummy!

jlp-if you want them more bar like, more chewy, just use 1 egg. I used 2 eggs and they became fluffy, cake like. The first time I used 1 egg and they were hard and I was able to cut them into bars and I put them in a zip loc bag and took them to work. Put them in my desk.

The Verdict is in on MsWoods bars!!! I LOVED them! I used the Chocolate recipe (2 eggs) and 3 pkts of splenda as I find my Whey powder sweet on it's own. I baked in a Silicone Loaf pan for 13 mins. Cooled for 5 minutes and cut up into 12 squares. Ate one still warm...VERY good and FILLING!

Thank you!!!!!

So glad you liked them, I was getting nervous! My whey protein is sweet also, like I said, I estimated the sweetener because I used liquid and eye balled it (I know how much I need Lol).

I'm going to just go make a post in the recipe section for this because it has kind of taken over this thread, I didn't realize everyone would be so interested. Sorry OP!

I've stopped bringing snacks to work as I found I would eat them because they were there rather than because I was actually hungry .

Babybel or other cheese
Salami sticks or ham
Berries with cream (after induction)
HB eggs

If I do get really hungry @ work I go across the road to the take-away shop and get chicken, Kabana (spicy sausage) or roast meat.

Hubby quite likes terriyaki meatballs for snacking:-

1pound hamburger
1 sml spring onion, finely chopped
30ml Soy Sauce
1tsp garlic
1tsp ginger (we don't like ginger so I use extra garlic )
Chinese 5-Spice (optional)

Mix ingredients together, form into meatballs and fry in a little oil.

We love "Heather's Potsticker Patties" from Linda Sue's website. Don't know how to post the link, but they're under her "Pork and Lamb" section! Sometimes even have these for breakfast!
