Not hungry?

Here is my dilemna -
for the past several days I haven't been hungry but know that I need to eat ... What I mean is, there have been ZERO cravings, and no real desire to eat. I eat anyways, because I know that my calories are too low otherwise...

Today I have only eaten 976 calories - this is a problem! I know it wouldn't be a big deal if it were one day - but this is day 2 or 3 of me not being super hungry. I'm going to have some coconut oil with almond butter mixed to try to up my calories .. but still - what should I do if I experience this? I know that in DANDR, Dr. A says to only eat when hungry and until full ... what if you're always feeling full?

Thoughts here? I know there must be some sort of balance..

I would love to hear what people thing..

Thanks

Are you on induction? That definitely has a tendency to suppress appetite. If you've been on it long enough, consider moving on to OWL. The extra veggies+ which you start introducing in your diet might get you "feeling hungry" again.

Also, are you measuring everything you ear or just estimating? It could be you are under-estimating just how much you are eating and therefore under-calculating how many calories you eat!

For example, I've had so far today (lunch and dinner) 2 eggs, 1 T olive oil, 1 T sunflower oil, and 200g salmon. That ALONE is roughly 550 calories. This is leaving out all the veggies and other meal garnishes, or drinks, which bring me to over 700 so far. So by the time I have dinner, at the end of the day I'll have surely had over 1000 calories.

If, for example, I were leaving out the oils in my calorie counts, that's a lot of un-accounted for calories!

If everything's accounted for and you're just not hungry, you don't have to force yourself! Unless you're really feeling weak. Otherwise, I'm sure your appetite will return. I remember I had a few "just not hungry" days and when I did the count I thought "wow how could I feel so full and eat so little?" But it didn't stay that way

I think you should be mindful of eating and getting proper nutrition. I have days that I am simply not hungry too.

I just want to clarify that I have been doing this WOE of eating for 3 years now (well in Feb. I hit the 3 year mark.. pretty close). I'm almost at maintenance but still need to eat induction style due to allergies, etc. That being said, I do eat nuts and way more veggies (just none of the other rungs like grains, etc.)

I measure absolutely EVERYTHING because I know that at this point calories matter for me to maintain...

It's so weird - I'm usually bad with cravings, etc. but recently I just don't feel super hungry. I eat anyways, but then feel guilty that maybe I'm doing so when I shouldn't (you know, the whole thing with "you shouldn't eat if you're full")

Ahwell...

Skip a meal or two, keep track of how you feel, monitor energy levels, check sleep patterns, beware of weakness and illness. You're going through a glitch AFAIC, if everything else is fine, don't feel guilty not eating.

Honestly I have days when I am not so hungry and eat very little. Then other days I am monitoring myself so much b/c my appetite is ravenous. But it balances out.

It is totally ok to have some days where you don't eat as much. We don't need nearly as much as we usually think. So if you have a day or two where you are at 900 calories, that's no problem.

stop worrying so much about every little thing.. the stress from all the worries are going to halt the weightloss..

If you are not so hungry, dont eat so much. I totally believe low carb works so well because appitite is supressed, which in turn helps change eating patterns etc.. Why not just enjoy the loss of appitite for a few days, and see if it ballances out.. its only a couple of days.. just make sure you get well ballanced meals in.

Becky, you're definitely at a point in your journey where you can read your body. With that, don't trip too much! Relish in the lack of appetite due to ketosis to get those creeper lbs. off.
