One piece of bread...

I've lost six lbs in a week. My appetite has been nil. Yesterday I went to Denny's for lunch. I had tilapia and green beans. And they brought garlic buttered bread. I looked at it. I smelled it. I haven't felt truly hungry for a week, but all of a sudden I was starving. One bite. Just one. Then chomp. It was all gone. And it tasted wonderful. I'm afraid to look at the scale. I did check my BG - whew - it didn't cause my BG to rise. Thank goodness. But I CRAVED carbs afterwards. DH took me to Red Lobster last night. I wanted a piece of that bread so darn bad. I LOVE their cheddar cheese biscuits. I had a war with myself, but finally asked the waitress not to bring it out. I need strength. One piece of bread and now I want more...

Repeat to self - Bread is carbs. Carbs are sugar. Sugar is crack.

Well...since you already ate the bread the most important thing is what you do next. Get right back on plan with your next meal or give up and go back to the eating habits that got you to where you were to begin with. Its all up to you! You can do it!

OMG!!!! I *LOVE* Red Lobster! The Cheddar Biscuits and the Lotta Colada ( Huge Pina Colada with a side shot of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum)
And the bread bowl with the lobster fondue! And the chips & lobster/shrimp/crab dip!!! And the GARLIC MASHED POTATOES!!!!!! Ommm Nom Nom!!!!!
I swear I just gained 5 pounds typing that!

I don't trust myself not to order that stuff if I went there on this diet.

I would rather make crabs legs at home. Now, if they have an "All you can eat" lobster day...I might reconsider!

From an herbal standpoint, garlic is an appetizer - the aroma immediately goes to the appetite centers of the brain.

Red Lobster biscuits have been my downfall many times. MANY times. I *think* finally I am over it. I have been out to eat many places where my friends enjoyed the bread basket (I can't ask for no bread on the table when my friends enjoy it so much) and I was unfazed. However. I am still afraid to try Red Lobster. I might be attacked by those biscuits.

Tiger...since you didn't have a glucose spike from the other bread, a cheddar biscuit may be OK for you. They have a lot of fat. Then again, is it even humanly possible to eat only one?

You can't undo this so build success from a failure, you can do this!

Oh, boy! Have I got news for you. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but it got great reviews!! Next time, make a batch and take a few with you to the restaurant!

((I just wanted to add something about the smell of certain foods causing hunger. I had the same thing happen to me the other day at the movies. I didn't have a single urge to eat popcorn, but the smell was everywhere. Before I knew it, my stomach was in spasms, insisting to be fed! I just ignored it and made a note to myself to bring snacks with me next time. I even ate before I went, too!))

LC Red Lobster Biscuits

8 ounces of cream cheese

1/2 cup shreded italian cheese mix
1 cup shreded cheddar cheese
1 tsp peper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp parsley

How To Prepare: preheat oven to 425 degrees
bring eggs and cream cheese to room temp. mix untill well blended. add the dry ingredients, spices, and cheeses to the wet mixture
