Can cheese be frozen?

A local market has cheese on sale very cheap and I was wondering if I could stock up and freeze it?

Yes, it tends to get a bit crumbly after being frozen, but the taste seems unaffected.

I freeze cheese.
I get it in bulk at Costco and then divide it up and freeze it

Thank you, I wasn't sure. I usually melt mine so I don't care if it's crumbly.

I like to shred it and store it frozen in a ziploc bag. Thaws super fast. If you try to grate it after it's been frozen it crumbles and is sort of frustrating.

I really need a deep freezer!!! Didn't think to buy cream cheese, sour cream, cheese, etc. on sale & freeze it. Don't have much room left in my freezer ATM it's full of meat .

Ok, a first for me...ThreadJack!!! Ms.Woods --I have read your comments a lot over the last few months and have always been impressed with your stats. I appears to me that you are now approaching two major milestones. You are knocking on the 100 lbs loss mark and getting ready to enter into the 200 land! Wow -- and only since June? I am not worthy!!!

I kinda like the way it gets crumbly. Kinda of like the cheese crumbles sold in stores. I have often wondered if they freeze it first.

You can but I don't care for the texture when it is thawed and many things lose some of their flavor when frozen.
