Cool whip/whip cream

I remember reading something a little bit ago about how whip cream is much better than cool whip. (I think) I was just wondering why that is and how bad cool whip is for you. I just got home from class and am DESPERATELY craving something sweet and quick while I write my school paper. I LOVE cool whip and was considering getting the chocolate kind and eating a bit. I am not a big fan of whip cream. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me?? Thanks guys!!!

If your choices are cool whip and something much worse, then I think it's obvious. But if your choices are cool whip or whipped cream, it's gotta be the whipped cream. In my store I can get chocolate whipped cream in cans.

But it's probably best of all to resist the urge and have some meat instead.

Well make sure the chocolate kind does not contain sugar and check the carb count!

I prefer whipping my own heavy cream and sometimes I add unsweetened cocoa and a little liquid sucralose to make my own chocolate kind. Very yummy and quick to make if especially if you have a mixer!

It would be hard to find a food more nutritionally vacant that also contained as many really bad ingredients as Cool Whip.

Cool Whip is sweetened and has various thickeners and chemicals. Cream is just, well....cream!

Whipped cream has less than one carb. Cool whip has 2 carbs per serving. Watch out for the SF Cool Whip - it has THREE carbs per serving!

There are 50 carbs in a small container of cool whip. The main ingredient is corn syrup.

Cool whip has trans fats and I will opt to get a can of extra creamy whipped cream (tastes better too) over Cool Whip any time.

it may take a while to make - but just make your own whipped cream! it's as simple as:

heavy cream
splenda or erythritol
little tiny bit of vanilla extract

whip this up with a mixer and you're all ready.

as everyone else has already said - cool whip is NOT a good choice...one thing MOST people around here try to stay far away from is high fructose corn syrup or 'corn syrup' in general - any kind of corn syrup is bad for you! plus all the other chemicals in the cool whip! aweful. now - granted, in the past i absolutely could eat it from a spoon with the best of em! lol but it's just SO much better to make your own from real ingredients!

Cool Whip is nothing but hydrogenated vegetable oill. It takes approximately 2 years or more for the body to eliminate them hopefully not causing any damage in the mean time.

I used to work in my college cafeteria and one of my many tasks was dumping the liquid "cool whip" into the big mixer and whipping it up.

If you saw a five-gallon bucket of that stuff before it's whipped, you would never even consider eating it ever again. It's a thick, cloudy, grayish-white oil.

The reason they use it instead of whipped cream is it won't melt. You can leave that stuff out for hours and it will just sit there.

It's what a lot of prepared food-like substances are made out of, cookies, ice cream, cereal... you name it, those ingredients are in it.

Real food doesn't have ingredients.

And yeah, cool WHip is nasty stuff.
Really really nasty.

Whip some cream, add cocoa, and maybe a bit of SF syrup or stevia or truvia or whatever.

Well, I knew as soon as I wrote it that someone would go all hyper technical on me and by someone I meant you. So I'm going to get all stubborn and bull-headed and say that recipes are just not real food.

But that's because I don't use recipes mostly, just food: Meat, eggs, salad greens. OK, Coconut Bark, but that's not food... it's made out of food, but it's a recipe.

Here is the list of ingredients:
WATER, CORN SYRUP, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL (COCONUT AND PALM KERNEL OILS), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, LESS THAN 2% OF SODIUM CASEINATE (FROM MILK), NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, XANTHAN AND GUAR GUMS, POLYSORBATE 60, SORBITAN MONOSTEARATE, BETA CAROTENE (COLOR).

Corn syrup... transfat containing oils.... High fructose corn syrup... are the main ingredients.

Sounds like an instant recipe for a nutritional nightmare that would stall weight loss!

I live in England and to be honest, I am glad we don't have half the junk you have over in America. I've been to NY and FL and I was amazed at the amount of junk food you have available to you and Cool Whip would be number one on my avoid list. I hate whipped cream out of a can, let alone whipped-cream-out-of-a-can-that-isn't-even-really-whipped-cream!! Homemade all the way!

I used to eat Cool Whip when I first started this WOE but never touch the stuff anymore. Tastes greazy to me, more so than whipped cream.

Try making it flavored, Cass. Put cocoa powder in it, see if that whips up ok maybe?
