Stomach Issues...Question(s)

I just began following Atkins yesterday. I enjoyed my food and felt good about my choices. The problem, however, is that last night I had some big stomach issues and I ended up in the bathroom a couple of times during the night. I had two salads yesterday, so I do not know if it was the extra ruffage. My fat intake was about 62% yesterday as well, and I do not know if this is a contributing factor. Just as a FYI, nothing is wrong with the lettuce or other salad vegetables I used. I want this to be my WOE, but I do not want to put up with this stomach trouble throughout. I also had a c-section in February, so I don't know if that has a lasting effect. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you for any help.

For someone just starting... let's face it... this is a big change. Give yourself a few days for your body to adjust. Once it does, you will be amazed how you will feel!

Give yourself time, your body has had quite a shock. And, hey, I bet you lost weight.

Ok, the only reason I ask is that is a very common side effect when someone is taking that med and starts LCing. I think you will see it level out over the course of a few weeks. But, have to be honest, even today almost one year later from starting LCing, I still have that occasional time in the bathroom as you described.

Hmmmmm? three cups veggies? The salads were small? U may have gone over your carbs if you just started? Actually, I and most I know had the opposite effect. Constipation???

Also most women who just have babies get into gall bladder trouble, possibly too much fat? Without knowing your exact food it's hard to tell. Can you post your menu?

If you truly want this to be your WOE then give it a week or two and see if things work themselves out. A c-section wouldn't affect things (I've had one). My husband just went back to Atkins Monday after a long vacation and went to the washroom 3 times last night when he normally is a one-a-day regular kinda guy, same thing the night before. Me myself and I had the opposite effect, I used to run to the washroom within 20 minutes of eating before LCing (no gallbladder) and now I'm regular to constipated. Everyone is different, give yourself some time to learn how you tick on this WOE before tweeking or abandonning it. Best of luck!

Sounds good. Hang in there. Possibly check out Atkins nutritionists on this board, if you don't settle down.

Good luck

Hang in there, time is on your side, body will adjust to new regimen sooner than you think. Expect the effects of ketosis soon though.....

I'm not very knowledgeable on this, but I've heard it talked about and it seems to fit....

Yeast die-off?

Maybe someone who knows about this can comment or maybe it's not applicable at all.

When I first started, about a month into it, I was at work and got SO ill. Violently ill. Lasted about 2 days. I had this happen a couple of times. I think it was my metabolism shifting to a dietary fat burning metabo vs the carb burning metabo it had been used to. Bod purging out all the refined crap carbs it was used to being fueled on. I embraced it, and kept right on moving!!

Iceburg lettuce can irritate the stomach, especially for people w/IBS. You might not have it as far as you know, but a lot of people have it and don't realize it. I had it for about 5 years before I was finally diagnosed. Cut the lettuce and see if it helps.
