metabolic advantage...

i hope it works in my favor. I was just tallying up my daily WW points for each day of the past week. there were two days where I was way over the line. Remember that I am not, at this time, able to do any serious physical activity. I would love to show at least 1 lb down. After all, i am not just doing this for me alone. I need to prove that low carb is an equally acceptable way to combat overweight (if not the preferable way). showtime is at high noon today. Let us keep our fingers and toes crossed. update

i just got weighed. i lost a very important 1.2 lbs. from 371 to 369.8. to go from the 370's to the 360's. that is good psychologically. it is imperative, especially when my ability to do serious physical activity is NOT YET do-able, that i try to know when enough is enough (without being really hungry). well, heres to next week. Way to go FF!

Try to catch up with me....if you still want to compete. We were exactly the same weight a few weeks ago. I dropped some pounds, but it's not exactly a fair challenge, since my medication helps.

Hey FF,

The thing Metformin does mainly (for the people it works for) is reduce the liver's dumping of glucose into the bloodstream. It lowers the blood glucose level, which in turn does help with the cravings / hunger.

For years, I was convinced that Atkins no longer would work for me--I could not get into ketosis no matter how low my carbs were. A month of Metformin, and I was back in ketosis, lowering my blood glucose numbers, and feeling much better.

If you are diabetic or prediabetic, Metformin is worth looking into. I love it.

I have been on kind of an eat-like-a-Klingon bender for a few days myself, but all low carb or vlc. So I am doing OK.

i will be returning to the m.d. at the end of Dec.

if i go now, he will run every diagnostic test from a-z. in 5 or 6 weeks, i should, if everything is as it was, be in much better condition internally. He knows and approves of my Atkins. he has seen how it improves me. but he is not dogmatic about it or any other diet. his specialty is pulmonary medicine and geriatrics. i am bit short of breath, but at 369 lbs on a 5'6" body, what can one expect? it WILL get better. I took myself off Metformin over a year ago, as i felt I was taking too many pharmaceuticals. I take 4, 2 for htn, 1 for thyroid, & glypizide for dm. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI
