I am going to be adding berries back in from Thursday and I was just wondering how many you can have for 5g. My favourites are blackberries. Any help much appreciated!!

Amber, if blackberries are your favorites, you're in luck! Four ounces of raw blackberries --by weight--contains 4.9 net grams. If you're measuring by volume, 3/4 cup has 5.7 grams.
2/3 cup of raw strawberries has 5.8 grams of net carbs. 3 ounces of strawberries by weight contains 4.8 net grams. 3/4 cup of raspberries has 5 net grams. 3.5 ounces by weight contains 5.4 net grams. 1/3 cup of blueberries has 5.8 net grams. 1.5 ounces by weight has 5.2 net grams. All counts are from Fitday. Hope that helps! One trick 2big4mysize taught me is to always eat some fat with a new higher-glycemic food like berries; don't eat them by themselves because they might make your blood sugar go wacky. So when I was trying them in OWL, I would have them with one ounce of Brie or some other cheese, or 2 Tbsp cream. Congratulations once again on your milestone to Onederland, and best of luck moving on to OWL! |

Yay for blackberries!
Thank you for all the information. I will save this page and it will be really useful for me. I will definitely make sure to eat my berries with cream in the beginning. In all truth, I'm not a huge cream fan unless it's used in a sauce for a hot dinner but if it helps, I will do it. Thank you so much, I really appreciate the support and the knowledge. ![]() |

Use the USDA calculator above to find out what the carbs are in any food you are interested in. Three and a half ounces (100 g) of plain strawberries are about 5 grams with fiber deducted. An entire pint (the smaller size container of berries you can buy at the store is 20 g deducting fiber). Blueberries are 12 grams per three and a half ounces, deducting fiber. It is legitimate to deduct fiber with berries, unlike some lab created foods. CAUTION: When eating berries eat only fresh ones or frozen berries whose labels you have checked to be certain they contain NO sugar. As soon as sugar is added to fruits, which often occurs, the carb counts skyrocket. Personally I think every person eating a low carb diet should include berries on a daily or near daily basis if they can afford them. It always disturbs me to see people who add 5-10 grams of lab created artificial food bars, or of protein powder or cheese to their diets, but avoid berries as if they were candy. Berries contain many micronutrients you won't find in pills.

yum berries. Glad to see you are adding back the rungs.
if you use frozen berries measure your berries and pour in a coffee mug. then measure your cream and slowly pour it over the frozen berries. it coats the outside of each berry and you get a frozen treat in every bite. Also you can in the small bowl of your food processor place frozen berries already measured and puree them then add your cold heavy whipping cream in the measured amount you want and blend it in. this will look like sherbet but have mouth feel and texture of ice cream. yum

i must confess... i am scared of fruit because....
i have little or no control over it. some produce stores sell loose strawberries. if i can still get them around Thanksgiving I will have 7 large ones, sliced in half & dipped in whipped cream. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI
