Fell Off the Wagon and bumped my Head!!
Well it has been well over a year since I fell off the wagon and bumped my head. I must have bumped my head because I found just the simple act of choosing healthy low carb options to be impossible. My mother was diagnosed with bone cancer in November-08 and passed in February-09. My daughter was intially diagnosed with Epilepsy in April and continued to fight through seizures without improvement on medication. In July we found out she did not have epilepsy after we followed up with a visit to UCLA. My dad fell and broke his hip a month ago and Grandma was moved into a rest home.
How did I survive all that intact. I forgave myself, but now I am working on losing about 35lbs of the weight I gained. I sure went back to my addictive behavior and leaned on carbs to deal with my emotional turmoil. Now it just made healing that much harder. Dang it is hard to be good. ![]() Well I started back on track about two weeks ago. The first week I weaned myself off of coffee with creamer by cutting myself back to only one large cup of coffee a day and the remaining day I drank hot green tea. It helped to not have those darn headaches that come with caffeine withdrawl. Then last week I lost 6 lbs. (Forgot to change my info). I am off to a good start and will visit my friends on this website to keep me motivated. It's good to be back. Thanks for all the good people that give us such wonderful ideas and motivational encouragement. I hope to be surely strapped in for this ride. ![]() |

With all you have been through, I'm surprised you only gained 35 pounds. Give yourself a lot of credit for that. I would have put on a lot more, being an emotional eater myself.Glad you are back and on track. |

A big hug to you, sorry for the difficult year, it is so hard to remain on plan with stress, especially when you are caring for the ones you love.
Welcome, and it looks like you are off to a good start. Hope to hear from you lots! Linda |

Wow. That kind of stress makes it very hard to focus on your own health. Glad things are better for you now.

You guys are all so supportive. Doing well so far. Hoping to motivate my twin sister to join me so we can motivate eachother. Whatever plan she decides to go on WW or Atkins support is so crucial.
Thanks again all. |

Hi Hi Twinzie,
I know how you feel. I had a similar situation. My father in law died of cancer Aug. of 08, then my Grm. died less than a week later, and my mom had a brain anyuerism 5 days before Xmas of 08, and died Feb. of 09. She was young and perfectly healthy. I coped with eating carbs too, put on 10 lbs. and still cannot get motivated to stick to anything longer than 5 days. Good for you on the 11lbs. Way to go! Inspires me to just do it!! Deb |

Deb....so sorry for your loss. After all the turmoil this year I never thought I would be able to get back on plan. I had to out of necessity. I was running out of clothes to wear. (Got rid of all my fat clothes) I was staying at home instead of going anywhere because I didn't have just casual clothes to wear away from the house. Pretty sad huh? Been a tough year financially, and can't go buy new wardrobe. Have Thanksgiving down south and lots of family coming, so I had to jump start myself and get motivated to lose. Don't know if I can fit any of the "nice" clothes that are waiting for me to shrink by then. But I "told" my husband I will just have to go to Goodwill if I can't fit them by then. I can't become a hermit and get depressed. Working extra hard to stay on plan.

I'm so sorry for your loss and all of the difficulties you've been through. I lost my mom to bone cancer when I was a teen, as well as my paternal grandmother three months earlier and my maternal grandmother a few months later. Basically lost all of the important women in my life in one fell swoop.
I'm glad you're back on the wagon. I'm sure you'll start feeling a lot healthier in no time at all. Hope you find a few nice things to wear for the holidays... but not too many things because they'll be too big very soon! God bless! |

Twinzie,
I can relate to the clothes part, when they started becoming tight, I knew I had to do something, can't go out and buy bigger ones on my budget. So I wear the same thing over and over again, comfortable for me. I am going to NY in just a few days, and I was so hoping to have lost a few by then, but keep stopping and starting all the time, so I never get anywhere. You will do it, best of luck to you! |

I can't wait until Throw On and Go comes around again. I have a ton of clothes waiting for me to downsize. All in varying sizes going down. I can't wait. I'll keep plugging along. Two more weeks until the family gathering.
