Lesson Learned...

OK, so I bought this enormous bag of shelled peanuts from Costco. Took them home under the assumption that I could manage just eating a dozen or so on occassion.

Well I was going through these like wildfire, so I thought. I can bring them to work and then everyone will eat them until they are gone. The problem is that I spend a minimum of 9 hours a day at work. While I am home for roughly 12 half of that time is spent sleeping so no worries.

We have a table that people bring in food, desserts, candy, etc. and I have been good at passing by this table daily a dozen times or more and never even considering them. But here I sit at my desk, I can hear the little guys calling to me. "Come grab a handful", "We are tasty and while not a great snack not as bad as our neighbors, M&M or the Donuts to my right"

Torture! hah

Maybe try putting duct tape over the little critter's mouths. I do sympathize. Sometimes there is a "legal" food and because I am not eating the sugar laden items I feel virtuous as I overeat on the "legal" item. Not easy. Good luck.

If I buy something and decide I can't use portion control, I just go ahead and trash it. If it's in the trash I can't eat it, even if the voices in my head tell me to.

Just threw away 2 pkg unopened cream cheese for that very reason.

Wait 20 minutes your craving may pass. It helps me more times than not.

I feel your pain, Batlou. I once bought a bag (not bottle, but big bag!) of macadamia nuts thinking that I'd savor them for quite some time.

Quite some time = 24 hours!

I bought a big bag of walnuts at Sam's and I weigh out an ounce and put in snack baggies.1 ounce has 200 calories so I'm usually not temped to eat more!

Nuts are my downfall! I'm having a hard time keeping my consumption in check, but lately I think I'm getting a tad sick of them which helps!

I make my son do this with his snacks to teach him portion size and to keep him from eating everything all at once. Why didn't mommy do the same?
