Does anyone get stalled by Coffee

Hi All!!! Hope everyone is having a great day. I wanted to try to get some opinions on something I find a little weird, or maybe it's just me lol.. I have always lost pretty well maybe 1.5-2.5 lbs a week. This time around it's about 1.5 to 2 lbs which I will gladly take with a big smile. The only thing I find strange is that I only seem to lose on the weekend. I weigh on a scale at work and I do weigh daily when I get here. I don't ever show a gain if I have been on plan. Then I stay the same the whole week. I don't weigh on weekends and when i come back in on Monday I will be down like 1.5 to 2 lbs. Then I repeat the cycle of no losing then over the weekend a loss. Now don't get me wrong I love coming in and being down on Monday, but I am trying to figure out if it is something I am doing during the week that is making me not lose. The only thing I can think of is I have 1/2 cup of coffee with some non dairy creamer and 1 sweet and low during the work week. Could this be it? Our company mandates the temp be at 65 and it is really freaking cold in here so the coffee helps in the morning. I have never been a coffee drinker so this is new for me all the way around. Does anyone else find coffee slows or stall them out? I have come to like having the coffee but if I must I guess I could cut it out. Just wanted some opinions.

PS I eat the same pretty much all week including weekends although I start eating later on weekends and actually have my dinner later on weekends seeing as I don't work my second job. Any input would sooo be appreciated.

Diana-

It could just be the way your body registers loss. There's no automatic relationship between what we eat and what we weigh on a daily basis; the body adjusts at its own pace. You've probably discovered the way your body is functioning in terms of showing loss on the scale.

I keep a chart of my weight from weekly weighings, and I've noticed that there's one week each month when I show no loss at all even though my WOE and exercise remains the same. This has been consistent for the past 9 months. That seems to be something my body is doing (it's not TOM; I'm way past that), and it doesn't concern me because I know to expect it.

Back to coffee--the reason it can 'stall' people is that some people get an insulin response from the caffeine and then get hungry and tend to eat more.
Back when I first did low carb in my 30s, I had to watch my coffee intake for exactly that reason. Now it doesn't bother me at all. So if your coffee doesn't cause you to be hungry or crave carbs, then it's not a problem--at least that's my experience.

Thanks for your response. It just struck me as a little odd, but you are probably right. I've been on plan for about six weeks and after the initial fast loss during week one this has pretty much been happening. That was about the time I started the coffee so I though maybe that was it. As long as I continue to lose I won't obsess over it. 1.5 to 2 lbs is pretty good, plus I only have a moderate amount of weight to lose and that may be another reason it's a little different now.

Wow looks like you have done well!!!

I have not noticed coffee giving me a problem. Maybe if you weighed once a week or month. I was obsessed with the scale now I weigh once on the first and that's it. I don't use the scale as a guide. you could measure too maybe that would help you with seeing your progress.

You're doing fine! The medical experts say that 2 lbs a week is the MOST that a person can safely lose, so your rate is just about ideal. Low carb always provides a big loss at first because of water flushed from the system, but that's not a fat loss entirely, as you're experiencing now.

I got stalled on coffee once too but (and this is so funny) it turned out that i can drink a certain brand of decaf and still lose all week then i switched to walmart brand of decaf and i got stalled for one month (i lost nothing that month) before i realized that this particular coffee was causing a problem. The day after i stopped drinking the walmart brand i started losing again

I dont know, but Im starting to wonder, One 8oz cup has one carb. With the cream Ive realized that I am drinking 10 carbs everymorning. My weightloss has been stalled for a while so I'm going to cut down to one small cup a day and check back in a week to see if it helps

I'd ditch the "non-dairy creamer". Can you keep a small carton of cream at work or drink it without?

According to the dietician at my clinic, coffee raises blood sugar, which, imo, could cause a stall in some people. Perhaps this is your issue?
