Best protein powder?

Hi everyone,

I'm almost out of my CytoSport EvoPro protein powder (cookies and cream flavor) and like it a lot, but wanted to try another brand so was wondering about some feedback for another tasty protein powder for making shakes

I saw Whey Gourmet on Netrition and it sounds good, anyone have any opinions on it or any other tasty brands? I also use Designer Whey French Vanilla but was looking for something a bit more exciting, lol.

Jay Robb Vanilla. You can add any flavor to vanilla with the Sweetleaf Stevia flavored drops.

Natures Best Isopure Zero Carb - a bit expensive but worth it!
I think it's 25 grams of protein, 0 carbs per scoop and tastes amazing.
My favorites are the chocolate and creamy vanilla...

i found individual serving size samples of syntrax nectar flavors on ebay. i wanted to taste test the flavors before investing in the larger size.

i tried the strawberry kiwi and one that was like pina colada flavor (i forget the name). they both tasted good. i used water to mix it with and didn't feel the need to add anything else to doctor up the flavor.

Optimum Nutrition's Casein protein powder. Casein protein forms a gel in the stomach when it hits the stomach acid and then takes hours to break down. I like the vanilla. Very thick and creamy. You drink it and think your full but in 15 minutes, your REALLY full.

oh yeah I forgot about syntrax nectar (like some others mentioned)... those are sooooo good! I've had the twisted cherry, fuzzy navel, and crystal sky. They also have Nectar Lattes.. which is awesome too!
Just add water and stir with a spoon... no need to blend unless of course you want to make it an icy drink.

I love love love Greens and Whey by Biochem..
the stats are great, and its so thick mixed with water.. (like a straw will stand up in it)
you cant hardly blend it with ice casue its to thick its like a wendys frosty...
it comes in chocolate and vanilla.. I can't live with out it..

I love Sprituein Natural Vanilla and Chocolate protein powders. It is one of the few flavored unsweetened protein powders. Unlike a lot of other protein powders, including the expensive ones, it thickens up quite nicely by itself with the liquid you would use. Also, it is full of vitamins and minerals, including spirulina.

WOW! Looks like lots are recommending the Jay Robb....I just checked out the pricing, don't know if it's something I can swing this time @ Size: 24 oz (1.5lb) $43.76

I'll have to note that for the future though. I use Designer Whey to bake with and sometimes make shakes, right now I have been using the EVOPro mostly for shakes though and wanted to try something a bit different. I make mine in a blender with ice so the ability to completely mix in water isn't crucial, but definitely want something that tastes relatively good so I don't have to add a ton of stuff to it. All of these are sounding so good, it's hard to figure out which to get...lol

Check around... you can get it for less.

My all time favorite is Champion Pure Whey Stack Chocolate.

BUT the carbs are higher, my favorite in the entire world is Syntha 6 Mochachino. I mix 1/2 scoop of champion chocolate, 1/8 to 1/4 scoop of mochachino cause it will give you that rich mocha flavor that chocolates do not give...

I've tried the: BSN Lean Dessert Protein, Fresh Cinnamon Roll and Whipped Vanilla Cream ... both are sooooooooooo good but they are both pretty high in carbs when it comes to protein powders. If I remember correctly they have like 7 carbs per scoop....

Wow, I'm going to have to look for that. How is the nutrition, carb count, and price?

I use Jay Robb because it's one of the healthiest options. It is the most expensive but 2 important factors for this particular protein powder

1. It utilizes pastured dairy cows not treated with Rbgh. I haven't found another mainstream powder with this claim

2. It is cold processed meaning the cholesterol in the whey has not become oxidized causing problems to the arterial wall.

I like this in banana mix 3/4-1 scoop with kroger carbmaster yogurt. It makes the consistancy similar to pudding. Add a few marcona almonds and its really good.

I just tried my first protein shake today. Do most people here drink them for convenience or to cut down on calories instead of eating a meal? I've noticed my breakfasts are getting high in calories and need to cut back. Alot of the recipes for the shakes here have cream, etc added and seem to really bump up the calories.

luv the dutch chocolate, the strawberry/cream ...yummm... can't wait to try a new flavor - i sometimes have 2 a day if I can't find any good leftovers in the fridge!

I got the Jay Robb Strawberry and its sorta tasteless ... not bad/not good, just blah. I may try the chocolate before I give up on it all together.

I have the chocolate and the vanilla and also find them tasteless. The first time I tried the chocolate, I thought maybe I just got a bad batch so I bought it again. Same thing--no taste.

what kind do they have at wal mart. do they have all whey.. 13 sounds good to me to.. i like vanilla with a few frozen strawberries and some hc and some ice and water.. yummy.. that is my strawberry shake every night after dinner.
