Oh the Exercise Part of My Plan is Painful
I started going back to 24 hr Fitness last Monday. I've been starting slow, but I kind of pushed my arm exercises on Friday. I definitely hit muscle fatigue, and I can feel it today. I'm glad I don't do arms again until Wednesday! I did the bike for 3 miles today (first time to do it), and then I walked the park. I will probably go walk the park tomorrow too (now that it's finally cooled off and the humidity has lifted). The dr. said the Crestor could cause muscle fatigue. I should have told them the weights were doing that already, and I didn't need anymore.

Good for you TTL for starting to exercise! It WILL hurt at first, but it will help you. I used to HATEHATEHATE to exercise because I felt like I was probably doing it wrong and was wasting my efforts. I'm not the most coordinated girl in the world!
But, I got a book about proper form and am VERY pleased with my progress. Lifting weights gets my heart rate up and rebounding is fun and SO adaptable to one's fitness level. Stick with it and GOOD LUCK!! |

Oh, but it's a good kind of pain - I personally am kind to addicted to having DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). It lets me know that I've gotten a good workout and worked my musces hard!
WTG with getting started with strength training now. When I first started losing weight with low-carb back in 2003, I was only doing cardio. I got down to 142 and a size 8 before discovering the Firm and weight training. I ultimately only lost 7 more pounds, but shrunk an additional 2 sizes, getting down to a size 4 at 135 lbs! I'm only 5'2", but was pretty small - no one ever believed that I weighed an ounce more than 110. Long story short, I've gained some of the weight back and am in the process of losing it. This time around, I've kept at my strength training. I'm 7 pounds higher than I was when I wore those size 8s, but yet fit in a size 6. Ahhhh, the beauty of muscle - you can weigh more, but be smaller!!! ![]() And be toned ... ![]() And be healthier... ![]() And feel better... ![]() And burn more calories at rest... ![]() And be able to eat more... ![]() Hell, I could go on forever, but you get the picture. Keep lifting those weights! |
