Storing your ground up (powdered) erythritol

I find it inconvenient to have to grind up a small serving of erythritol every time I want to use it.

Is there any reason why I can't grind up a bunch of it at one time with my coffee grinder and keep it stored that way?

Will it stay ground up or will it crystalize or lump up again?

And will it stay as fresh this way?

Anyone ever tried this?

You can buy it powdered. My powdered still gets lumpy but someone suggested to put it through a strainer before use.

Hi Dc...
We keep it in a ziplock in the drawer with our other powered supplies - and it has never clumped.

Also, I just saw that netrition has powdered erythritol.

I think it was unavailable for a while. Good to know it's back again incase I don't feel like grinding it myself.

*Dumb question* - why do you need to turn it to powder? I have some - and was planning to experiment with some eggnog - do I need to grind mine?

*Next dumb question* - do ya'll measure it cup for cup? For example 1 cup sugar = 1 cup erythritol?

Thanks!

Tiffany, I'm not sure about measuring it cup for cup. But I first learned about grinding the erythritol and turning it into powder when I was asking about stevia in my greek yogurt. This thread will help: I really need some help with my Stevia and Greek Yogurt

Thanks Dreamchaser! I promptly went and powdered my whole sack of erythritol, so it's ready to use in whatever. I'm going to experiment to see how much is the equivalent of sugar. I'm sure I could google it, too.

Tiffany, Erythritol is approximately 70% as sweet as table sugar.

I use NuNaturals (I can't post a link but you can google it) pure powder Stevia (not the kind with maltodextrin added) and it works REALLY well together!
