Wow, there are some great results on here!

Here's my before and "during" photos. I would like to lose a little more fat for me to call any photos "after". I also have these photos and others in an album I created.

I'm about 187 in the before photo and about 173 in the during photo.

Wow, yorick, I can't believe that's only 14 pounds of loss! You've obviously done something to turn fat into muscle.

Thanks Kathy! BTW - your progress is amazing. You look great.

I was down to about 167, but then I joined a gym and started regrowing some muscle. So, yes, I've gained some weight from that.

@YoRik: Dude, your before looks to be about where I am now. Still a little squishy and the after is where I am hoping to be soon. Really trying to figure out how to add more strength training into my Tri training.

I do dips, pushups and situps after runs but that is about it. I was thinking P90X and doing either the full program or just using the strength parts since my cardio load is full already with running/biking and swimming.

Suggestions?

WOE: Low Carb - my way
Start Date: 1/4/09
Okay, here goes!

Well, since my 1 Year Low Carb Anniversary was Monday, I figured I'd finally post my before and "after" pics...I'm still not quite where I want to be, but I'm not sure where that will be, so we'll just call it "after" for now

I was 16 when I was at my heaviest, somewhere between 230-240lbs. I don't have many pictures from this time, but the one I am posting is from the end of my Sophomore year from our musical review. My mom had to make me a dress because we couldn't find anything that would fit me locally. I was a size 22, probably should have been wearing a 24 though!

My junior and senior year, I started losing some weight, probably around 20lbs or so. This picture is from the end of my senior year and I weighed probably 200-210lbs.

When I started college, I actually lost a ton of weight instead of gaining the "Freshman 15". When I found out that I was going to be a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding, I decided to try to lose some weight for the first time in my life. My mom had done Atkins before with much success, so I decided to try it. I lost so much weight so fast, I had to stop so I wouldn't have to get my dress altered! So this pic is from June 2008 and I was somewhere around 180lbs. The dress was a size 14 I think...

So in 2009, I decided to make a serious change. I committed to living LC and exercising. I lost 32lbs in 2009, and 47 inches off of my body! The majority of those inches came off my hips, thighs, and belly. This picture is as of this morning, wearing my new skinny jeans (I know!) I am currently wearing a medium top (used to be a 2X in women's plus sizes) and a size 10 on the bottom! I'm actually about 2lbs above my current weight listed in my stats, but not for long!

I'm glad that my after is where you are hoping to be - that means I must be doing something right.

I personally don't like P90X from what I know of it, although I have never tried it. I do know that it will leave most people looking "ripped" but often times it leaves people stripped of big strength and "bulkier" muscles. (A friend of a friend did P90X and went from being a really built Marine with some fat to a weaker but more ripped guy). I tend to think the program has hints of overtraining...

I keep things simple in the gym and don't do any cardio. I work out about 4 times a week, giving myself at least a day off between every two workouts or so. I try to workout no more than 1 hour each time I go, and all basics - bench press, deadlifts, military press, etc. - and I do a 3 day split (back/biceps, chest/triceps, and legs/shoulders/traps.). Hope that helps.

Apologies for the semi-hijacked thread.

Nope, don't apologize. I will still do my cardio including all tri disciplines but I think I am only planning on doing the strength workouts from P90X. I used to do the Stretch one as well and probably need to start that again.

My hope is that I can gain a stronger 'pull' through the water and strengthen my core as this would help on the bike and the run.

Thank you Daisy! For a long time I lost my weight without exercise. I wish I had started in the beginning. I didn't take Dr. A seriously when he said it was non-negotiable. It makes SUCH a difference!!! I can't live without it now! It was the only way I was able to lose those last 10-20 pounds.

Sounds similar to my story. Don't take your eye off the prize like I did though. Somewhere around late 20's early 30's I let it all go. Life happened I guess, don't really know for sure but health was certainly not a concern.

Great progress and as someone else already pointed out you do have a pretty face and now a healthy physic to match.
