A good low carb tomato sauce

What is a good brand of low carb tomato sauce with little or no sugar?

I thought I'd just ask instead of turning every bottle around in the supermarket

thanks!

I use all-natural Hunts tomato sauce and add garlic, onions, and dried Italian herbs to make pasta sauce. I thin out the sauce with a little beef or chicken broth.

they make several different varieties. their Marinara has only 4 gr per 1/2 cup serving. no sugar added. i use it for whenever i want red sauce. it is not cheap, but it lasts a long time, in the portion sizes to which i require. if u cannot get it in your area, i am sure they have a web site. doesn't everybody? GIANT food stores has a a line called Simply Enjoy that is 2 carbs a serving and is very good. Of course you would have to have a GIANT.

for anyone in Canada, the tomato basil (i *think* this is the flavour i get) has is the lowest carbs in the blue menu line from loblaws owned stores.

also certain classico brand sauces are as low as the blue menu ones.

mmmm now i want some chicken parm!!!

I bought Bella Vita Low Carb Pasta Sauce from Netrition. I bought 1 jar when I started 3 months ago and divided it into zip loc bags and put it in the freezer. I still have 2 portions left. It has 6g carbs per 1/2 cup. 1g of that is sugar, 2 g fiber. I made about 6-8 portions out of 1/2 cup so the carb count in my dish wasn't very high, and the sauce itself is great and you don't need much to get the flavor.

I make my own. I cut up whole peeled tomatoes (the can, or you can buy pre diced, we don't have them here), I sautee onions and LOTS of garlic, maybe add meat for flavor, then add the tomatoes and spices (basil, oregeno, salt, pepper, red pepper, some parsley maybe), maybe some sweetener if I want a sweeter sauce. Then you can puree it or eat it chunky. This way I can control not just the carb count but also the preservatives. I also don't find it to be that much extra work, especially if you use a chopper and pre cut tomatoes.

I usually buy pizza sauce instead of spaghetti or tomato sauce because it has less sugar. It's a little thicker than tomato sauce, but I thin it out with a little olive oil and it's a perfect substitution.

I use Classico Tomato Basil. It does not have any added sugar and it is fabulous on spaghetti squash! Sometimes I just use Hunts natural diced tomatoes and add some spices.

Hunt's & Contadina yield 3 total carbs per 4 tablespoons. I use either one in my Mucho Taco Salad.

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have the same thing, but in a large can. I think they call it tomato basil Marinara sauce.

It's cheap and is the size of probably 1 1/2 regular sauce jars.

It has a good flavor but I usually add a few spices to liven it up a bit.

making your own sounds delicious, but i'm lazy and this is what krogers has: Ragu no sugar added. 6 net carbs in half a cup. good times i make chicken parm and bake it in this for flavors but then don't put much sauce on my plate

The Eden Organic pizza and pasta sauce has only 5 net carbs per 1/2 cup. That's the lowest I've seen.

Another vote for Walmart Great Value pizza sauce . . 30 calories and 3 net carbs per 1/4 cup. If a few more calories are acceptable, one option is to blend in some supplemental black olives and/or chia seeds.

Somewhat condiment related is Kroger sugar-free no-carb no-calorie sweet relish . . perhaps with supplemental blended green/black olives, broccoli sprouts (radish taste), and/or chia seeds.

Tomatoes are one of the very few items I buy canned. I like the Trader Joe's organic tomato sauce. $1.69 for a 15oz can, and add my own basil and garlic.

They dropped the No Sugar Added from the label here about 3 months ago, and it now has sugar in it. But that's all good because it has the AHA stamp on it, right? LOL

Different geographical areas, I suppose, but keep an eye on it in the future. I actually quite liked the sauce (with some extra garlic added of course).

Classico has a couple varieties that have no sugar added to it (check labels).
