Hunts...the cheap stuff in the cans. Can't remember the "flavor" we usually get, check the labels. But the one we usually get is about 6 carbs per serving. Can't remember if that's net or total.

u wanted just plain tomato sauce, me sorry

but, this Victoria Marinara sauce of which I spoke also has 2 gr of fiber per 1/2 cup, so that brings it to 2 gr net carb per 1/2 cup svg. FF

This is what we use in our house. It is so fast and easy! I usually add onions to it as I am an onion freak, but you could add anything that you like. Oh BTW, we add like a capful of balsamic vinegar too.

Pastene Quick Sauce
1-28 oz. can Pastene Salt & pepper to taste
Kitchen Ready Tomatoes 6-8 fresh basil leaves,
4-Tbsp. Pastene Italian chopped
Olive Oil 2-3 cloves fresh garlic,
slivered
This sauce takes about 5 minutes to prepare,
so it can be cooked while pasta is boiling. Heat
the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Saute slivered garlic until clear. Increase heat
to high and add Kitchen Ready Tomatoes. Add
salt and pepper. Cook over high
heat 5 to 7 minutes stirring
frequently. Remove from heat and
add Chopped basil. Drain pasta
toss it in a skillet to coat with
sauce, and serve. Serves 4.

This is what I use, too. I just mix different seasonings with it to make spaghetti sauce, taco meat and pizza sauce.

I'll have to see if our Wal-Mart carries this...would save me some carbs!

Make your own!

I do and freeze pints/quarts for use in future.

I only put olive oil, tomato, parsley, garlic, and herbs. No sugar so I know it is low-carb and healthy.

Hi Dovelette…
I am fortunate to work out of our home, and there is something just ''better'' about putting things on the stove across the room from my workstation and having them simmering through the afternoon...

I’d probably do it even if the carb counts were an even trade because the flavor is so much better.

I'm not sure where you live so maybe this won't be helpful to you. I live in MA and shop at a supermarket called Market Basket. They now carry a sauce from the Boston North End restaurant Strega. It's called Strega sauce. It's new and I just bought it last weekend. It's only 40 calories and 3g carb per serving. I used it to make Linda Sue's spinach lasagna. It's very good.

It's only sold at Market Basket right now. Hoping it increases in popularity and makes it to other grocery store chains in MA.

HUNTS

Another vote for Hunts. It has no sugar and is very good. I use it as spaghetti sauce with some venison burger and shirataki noodles.

Also another vote for Great Value pizza sauce. Very good.

Hi Mindy, I have a Giant near me. This thread is from 2012. Do you think they still have it? I'm looking everywhere for a low carb tomato sauce.

The walden farms stuff is very individual. I think their pasta sauce was passable, I did add extra seasoning and some crushed tomatoes. Small carb increase but worth it.

This sauce is my favorite. Better than any higher carb sauce I've had.

I shop in Germany, so I have no US brands to help out with, but you could try any organic sauce; I buy a sauce here from a brand called Rapunzel and it's just herbs, tomatoes, water and sea salt. Tastes like fresh!

So check out some organic sauces, you may get lucky...

Rao's is excellent and only 4g carbs in a serving. Completely natural and tastes home made. Howeve, it IS expensive.

Personally, I don't like anything from a can...
