L-Glutamine ?

How much can you take a day? Is 1,000 mg. too much?

And those of you that take this supplement do you use the powder or capsules? Thanks!

up to 3000 mg depending upon your situation. Gut Healer, muscle repair, cravings squelcher?

I always prefer capsules because they contain no binders and are much more bioavailable in the body. If you're using it as a craving squelcher, you can open a capsule under your tongue.

You might be ok Sandy with 1500 mg. @ 500 mg 3x a day.

3,000mg is the max from what I've read. I've taken 1,000mg 30 minutes before meals as a craving squelcher.

I've been curious about this, too. I bought a bottle of Body Fortress 100% Pure Glutamine Powder and have been wondering if it was okay to take a full dose. According to the label, 1 tsp. contains 4500 mg. of L-Glutamine and 15calories. The instructions say to take a dose mixed in water one hour before and workout and again after a workout. Comments, Fawn?

Dr. Atkins Recommended Dosage
In his book, Dr. Atkin's Vita-Nutrient Solution, the late Dr. Atkins recommended between 5 and 20 grams per day when needed, between 2 and 3 grams at the onset of a desire for sweets, and up to 40 grams per day for more serious concerns. Dr. Atkins recommended powdered L-glutamine as the easiest and most economical way to obtain this amino acid.7
This quote is from smartbodyz.com, a commercial website; I am pretty sure it would be easy enough to validate.

Five grams is 5,000 milligrams; 20 grams is 20,000 milligrams.

Should you take it only as needed, or is it something you should take daily as a supplement?
