Struggling But Not Giving Up.. EVER!
Hi gang,
Well I am on a bit of a tailspin. I just need to get in here and say hello. I tend to post allot when I am up and fall away from here when I am down and need to change that. I am dealing with medical issues (un-diagnosed lower abdominal pain). It's getting frustrating and I am feeling allot of emotions and having a bit of eating issues too that are coming along with that (went off on a tangent a couple of times over the last week and ate a whole bag of chocolate chex mix Tuesday and then yesterday Mexican food and Flan). I have been somewhat maintaining as I am going right back on program but I am not dealing well and it angers me that after all these years I am still such an emotional eater. I have gained several pounds from dinner last night. I can get inside my head enough to know that I am on a downward spiral and truly barely hanging on if I am honest with myself. I think it is the unknown, healthwise that has me so much on the edge. I also don't deal well with mainstream Dr's. (well most of them anyway). I have been to three dif. Dr's and now I am scheduled for a colonoscopy and EGD next week with a new Gastro. I will be fine I am sure and truly will never give up on getting this FAT off! Have a good Fourth everyone. I can't believe it's already July.

Good luck with you tests! Just remember if you eat crap it 's not going to make you feel better, you will only feel worse if you allow yourself to gain back the weight you fought so hard to lose!!!! It's just not worth it! You worked too hard!!
Hang in there and don't give up!! Last edited by KellBell1234; 07-04-2009 at 06:40 AM.. |

Thank you so much!
It's hard. Especially when you realize you have not come as far (emotionally in control) as you think you have. I would have swore a month ago NOTHING could get me off track. I felt so strong. Now I feel like a bit of a shaky sadness. Oh and Thank you Naz! I recently got it all cut off. |

If you're feeling a bit emotionally shaky at the moment, just try to take things a meal at a time rather than looking at the big LC picture and getting wobbly. I'd also say cut yourself some slack, sometimes things happen in life and we wobble and even go down...but it's getting back up that counts.
You're doing great |

Daisyhair!! Good for you for not wandering off LCF's and going completely overboard. It is tough going through medical issues such as you are having. NOT KNOWING is such a scary thing. I'm sending good vibes your way that everything will work out.
BTW...they're all 100% correct!! Your new hair is gorgeous!!! |

Oh thank you so much, you all are helping me emotionally very much! This is really what I needed, just a few kind words.
I do think it's sad that most of us (at least most that I know) tend to wander away from here when we are not doing so good on our program when it's probably the time we need support the most. I can't thank you all enough for the kind words. I know today will be a much better day! |

Daisy- I can totally relate to your post. Recently I was told I needed testing for something and was left hanging [couldnt get test appt for weeks] and had nightmares, envisioning the worst etc. It was SO stressful!
Fortunately for me it turned out to be "nothing," boy was I miffed that I had gotten myself such a tizzy. That being said, and I know it is emotionally hard, but whats the alternative? Pretend I ended up having to have surgery. I could have gone in feeling icky and more overweight or I could have gone into it knowing I had done the best I could and have that confidence. Even if I hadnt made a goal or lost any weight etc to know I was truly putting int he effort, well that alone is an achievement one should be proud of. Ok, dont mean to babble, just wanted to give you a hug and tell you that I truly understand. This too shall pass! You are a strong, smart woman and you will get thru this and also be rocking your plan again whenever you want to!

DH, I just wanted to give you a hug, and encourage you to take your plan one day, one meal at a time.
No looking back. Don't dwell on mistakes or on the past. Our failures teach us things, even though we don't realize it at the time. We LEARN from them. So although you may feel your wheels are spinning, you're making progress in other ways. Look straight ahead. Check the clock. This is the hour that you will focus on. Make a mental (or hard copy if you need it) list of what choices you will make for yourself today. Affirm them. Tell yourself you're worth it. Ask yourself how bad you want it. Get up. Keep going. Well wishes and prayers for answers to healing for your health issues. (AND PS ... I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!!!! )

Hug! I'm right there with you. Never say never when it comes to low carbing is something I've learned. Same as you a month ago nothing could stop me. Then I crashed and burned. 12 added pounds later, I'm eating low carb humble pie.
I really feel for you about the lower abdominal pain. I've always had it but it was ruled as IBS because no one can figure it out. I personally think it's gluten intolerance but I don't have many medical options here. I truly hope you find out what is wrong with you!! Hang in there and be strong! You have always been such a great influence here on the main lobby! |

In my experience, doctors are terrible when it comes to figuring out abdominal pain! When my life goes to hell, I maintain. I have way more drama than I'd like at times. If I tried to lose while things were "whack", I'd fall dramatically. So I just go to a maintenence level, way more fresh veggies and fruit, healthy meats, and lots of TLC! |

Hey baby......I was just thinking about you yesterday!
hmmmm lower ab pain? Diverticulosis/itis possibly? Your L-glutamine Cary will help you begin to heal your intestines and coconut oil is good for intestinal inflammation.....whether it be diverticulosis or something else, these will begin to bring you relief. Keep us posted and remember, you are eating for health now my friend. With that, you have my best wishes. |

Try not to beat yourself up too much about reverting back to old ways of dealing with emotional stress. I really think that we never truly get to a point when we won't have to be "on guard" and just know that we have a weakness can be a strength in the long run. Remember to be forwarned is to be forarmed! You will be okay and you did the right thing coming back to the board so that we can all love on you a little! Now...go love on yourself!

Oh, boy, you have described me to a T! But, it didn't stop me, or you, from coming back here once again and posting because we knew that so many others on LCF are in exactly the same boat, and would be here to support us. It's wonderful how many understanding and loving responses you are receiving. It shows how much everyone cares about each other. I am so sorry to hear you are having such awful gastro pains, and I hope you'll get an answer soon. In the meantime, know we are all here for each other. When we say we understand, we REALLY, REALLY DO understand what you are going through related to your emotional eating. The need to eat away our problems (whether health or emotional) just doesn't happen. The immediate pleasure we get from the taste of something carby/fatty/salty/sweet just gives way to frustration and being upset with ourselves...at least that's what happens to me. Please take care of yourself and keep coming back to LCF for more support and hugs. ![]() Have a great 4th! ![]()

Some things that cause lower abdominal pain:
Ovarian cyst Adhesions (If you've ever had any abdominal surgery or a c-section, you are at high risk) Diverticulitus like Fawn said Irritable bowel (do you go between constipation and diarrhea?) Food allergy Gluten intolerance Is it a burning sensation? (ulcer) Colonoscopy is a good place to start. I have seen all of the above with lower abdominal pain and all are fixable. Hang in there. I know it's frustrating. In between appointments, you could try cutting out gluten to see if it helps. Most intolerance's you aren't born with, you develop. |

Hey Cary.....I have been wondering where you've been lately...
I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well! When I get stressed, I eat off plan too. You and I both know it's not good for us to do that, and to be honest, after I do it, I feel worse about things. Apparently you do too or you wouldn't have come here for encouragement. I'm glad you did! Good luck with your tests! I noticed your new "do" as soon as I saw your picture. I LOVE it!! Hope your feeling better soon and remember, we all care about you! ![]()

Cary, you've taken a great step by just posting and acknowledging the difficulty you're having. Move forward in baby steps - just like the other said - one meal at a time, one day at a time. You have enough going on right now without overwhelming yourself with your WOE. You can do this and you are so very worth it!!!!

Hey, sorry to hear you're having a rough time. But, don't beat yourself up for being an emotional eater. Atleast you're recognizing it for what it is. That's truly the first step to conquering it - as much as is humanly possible. I dare say virtually everyone is an emotional eater at certain points in their life.
Good luck on seeing the doctors. Hopefully you will get answers soon and the proper course of treatment will have you feeling much better! |

Hey Cary,
I ADORE you!! So I'm just here to offer my support and tell you that I hope you find out what's wrong. Only you can stop the spiral, and you'll do it when you are good and ready. It's good that you keep going back on plan, but we all know that more frequent off plans can lead to out of control. The good news is you recognize it, and you've come here for support. Love your hair in the avatar. You're so good about changing it often!! Hang in there, girl. I'm cheering for you!
