Any low-carb breads out there???

Any of you guys come across and like any low cross bread? Maybe in the supermarket or like wholefoods or somewhere?

I rarely eat it but when I do get a craving for some I buy Healthy Life bread. It's 5-6 net carbs per slice, depending on what type you get, and it's easy to find in most supermarkets.

Pepperidge Farms has a low carb bread. I can only find it in one grocery store around here. I think it is five net grams per slice.

I think it is called Carb Style or Carb Smart or something like that.

before I found out I was gluten intolerant, I used to eat the Essential Flax Bread .It's a very light bread with flax seeds in it, made with organic grains and 6 net carbs per slice.

I purchased it from TJ's, Whole Foods, Albertson's and Vons, so it was available almost anywhere I shopped.

I use Carb Down Flat Out bread which I have found at Wal-Mart and other grocery stores. It's flatbread style.

Nature's Own makes a few different kinds of bread. Some of them with pretty low net carbs. Their 100% whole wheat bread has 10g of carbs with 7g of fiber per slice. (I am pretty sure that's the count. It's been a few years since I bought any.) And they also have a sugar free variety and an extra fiber variety which have vary a little in carb and fiber counts.

I find the Nature's Own at Walmart, every grocery store, and even the Dollar General in our area have that. It's every where. That's what I used when I was pregnant. It tastes very good. Worth a shot to try it, IMO, to see how you tolerate it.

that being said......there is a producht out there that made me a believer...

"Josephs Pita Bread "

available at WalMART...and its only 4 carbs per pita...

so if you only use 1/2...pack if full of deli meat and some cheese.etc...
only 2 carbs !

and it TASTES great...
.....so....
even if you never thought you'd eat "bread" again....
this is one to at least...
.....consider...you know?

And you can make great pita chips out of Joseph's. Cut into 8 slices, seperalt, and you have 16 Lc. pita chips for only 4 carbs.

Sara Lee makes a 45 calories a slice bread that has 7 net carbs. Thats decent for a store bought bread. Great Harvest, a specialty bread store, carries LC bread but I don't know the stats.

Trader Joes has a line of low carb breads that are sprouted breads and taste WONDERFUL. They have 3-4 net carbs per slice and comes in wheat, 7 grain and rye...(maybe more).

Somewhere here BOBO posted a pick of the bag and the ingredients....but I sure can't find it now.

I always have 2 or 3 loaves in my freezer. Don't use it everyday....but nice to have a pc of toast with my eggs on the weekends.

Deedlynn and Blutto, I just got back from Tj's and looked at their sprouted wheat bread, 7 grain and rye, and the ones I found have 15 carbs and 3 fiber per slice. That's 12 carbs for a piece of bread. Am I just crazy? I looked at all the breads. Could someone please help me and maybe take a picture of the bags, so I know what to look for. Thanks Julie

I don't eat bread very often, but here I can get Healthy Life 35 calories per slice. Net carbs 6. I get it at my Kroger and Wal-Mart.

Joseph's Pitas and Lavash were lifesavers for me before I was able to finally give up bread completely. Both make awesome grilled cheese sammies.

I haven't tried any of the breads or low-carb tortillas in the past six months of doing Atkins again.

They might be okay for some people, but for me, they don't taste anywhere near as good as the real thing and all they accomplish is sparking an interest in foods I've given up and am doing fine without. Those products, though inferior (or perhaps because they are inferior), can lead to a desire for the "real thing" and I'm not taking any chances at this stage in my weight loss.

Plus, a lot of them have soy flour and other fillers. I consider them frankenfoods.

Blutto, have you checked your package. Bobos pictures are from 2006. It looks to me like they have changed the ingredients. There were tons more ingredients when I looked at it today. Check your package and let me know so I can ask them Thanks. Lauren, that's the same one I saw. Carbs -Fiber=15 carbs. Blutto please let me know. Julie Thanks
