Measuring

This morning marks the 31 day mark for my weight loss journey and to keep me accountable and to maybe give some others hope that there is life after the 3-4 week "stall" I am going to post my stats

Scale weight I am a hard won 20 lbs lost from 250.8 to 230.5 this morning.
20 lbs doesnt sound like alot but in the big picture it is to me.

I measured today and I have to say I was surprised, I had not measured since the 20th of April and to date,,

Neck .5 inch lost
Chest(above breasts) .5 lost
Breasts 1.0 lost
Arms 0 <- gotta work on that
Waist 2.0 lost
Hips/butt 2.0 (yay!)
Thighs 1.5 lost
Calves 1.0 lost

So if my math is correct I am at an 8.5 inch loss over all - WOW lol, not to ring my own bell or anything but WOW!!!!

does anyone know if that 8.5 is about par for 20lbs lost or has anyone ever tracked it like that?

Thanks everyone, the measuring really gives me motivation and I was at the point 2-3 days ago where I felt "stuck" so I really needed the measuring affirmation and the move down on the scale didn't hurt any

Keep going yall this WORKS.

Ive been trying to start measuring different areas (waist, chest etc) but i have a problem. it sometimes seems to change based on how hard i pull the tape measure. i could cut off an inch by just pulling it tighter. im never sure if i am doing it the same way every time. Is there a proper way to do it?

The 'proper' way is to do whatever you are going to do CONSISTENTLY. Mostly because it's not the actual number you should be concerned with, only the change that takes place. Sometimes we all pull the tape a little tighter, it's going to happen but you'll see a trend over the course of weeks, months and know that you are truly making progress. Eventually the hope is there is no pudge and that there will be less of a chance to pull the tape tighter.

Susan - Congrats on the weight and inches lost! I don't know what would be 'normal' inch wise to lose in relation to fat as everyone is different heights and different proportions and measures at different spots, more spots, less spots etc. All I can tell you is I have lost nearly 30 inches/42.5 lbs in 10.5 weeks.. sorry

Don't be sorry you are doing AWESOME!!! I felt lighter than air today because of my 8.5 inches lost. I really am considering tossing the scale to the back of the closet and only using it 1x a month.

Beth, I think considering where we both started and ALL the battles that come with being overweight. WE BOTH are doing great, keep it up and I bet we pass eachother off and on along this journey!

Thanks so much everyone, I do not know what finally clicked weight wise but even today I am down another lb (broke thru that 230) I will stay off the scales for a few days from here and see if I keep it. But I gotta tell you.. that 229 on the scale this morning made me want to cry with happiness.

Hi.. I started on April 19th. I have only lost 13.6 pounds. My total inch loss is 12.25 inches. But, I measure in more places than you I think. So that would be why I show more inches lost. You can look at my weight loss journal. Think link is in my signature I think. You could figure out from that and look at where you measure vs. where I measure and maybe that would help you. I am really jealous of your 1" loss in your calves. That is great! You are doing wonderful..
